P: Generative Remove Feedback (Lr Classic & Lr Eco)

This post applies to Lightroom Classic and the Lightroom Ecosystem products.
Camera Raw feedback can be found here.

Generative Remove makes it easier to remove unwanted objects and distractions with a simple gesture, even on complex backgrounds. For more accurate results, be sure to include the object's shadow in your selection and/or expand its size.

Detect Objects uses AI to find the objects underneath a brushed area. The masked areas will now appear larger than the Early Access version of this feature. You can also circle objects for quicker selection now.

We have also updated the spot selection experience to make it easier to manage variations, switch the fill type, refine the selection area, or re-generate as needed.

Batch updating is also now supported for Generative Remove spots.

Try out the latest updates and share your feedback with us here. Please also include the following details in your post:
  • App version
  • System details
  • Example image(s) if you wish to share

Our team continually monitors this thread to track issues for future improvement. Thanks!

Thank you for the Early Access to Generative Remove. I am a professional photographer, both action sports and portraits. I am enjoying using this feature. There are many times, though, when it doesn't really remove the item circled, such as acne blemishes on high school seniors. That is my only suggestion. So far, it is very easy to use and I will use it often!  Thank you!

Adobe recommends using the other remove tools for small spots: Remove mode with Generative AI unchecked (the old content-aware), Heal mode, or Clone mode.

It works awfully after the update. Prior, it wasn't the best but it worked rather well. I considered all the tips and hints about reflections and shadows, and as a result, I keep getting some glow of the object (person in this case) I try to remove. For Photoshop it works flawlessly.

Are you applying Remove on top of an AI mask (e.g. Sky or Background)?  If so, do Settings > Update AI Settings to recompute the AI mask; or delete the mask, do Remove, then reapply the mask.

If this doesn't help, please attach a full-resolution JPEG exported from the unmodified original photo (not a screenshot), so we and Adobe can see the issue in detail. With nearly everyone who has posted a problem photo, we've been able to show how to quickly remove the desired objects.

Buongiorno

Purtroppo con l'ultima versione Lr Classic la rimozione generativa AI non funziona molto bene, problemi a rimuovere linee elettriche e altri oggetti sottili, per il momento devo usare photoshop, che questo fa un lavoro eccellente

Grazie

@Dario33844999kwmm: "problems removing power lines and other thin objects"

Detect Objects doesn't work well with thin objects, so uncheck it. See this previous post and my two replies for how to remove lines:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/p-generative-remove-feedback-lr-classic...

If that doesn't help, please attach a full-resolution JPEG exported from the unmodified original photo, so we and Adobe can see the issue in detail. With nearly everyone who has posted a problem photo, we've been able to show how to quickly remove the desired objects.

Using Generative AI to remove some background objects and it's not removing as well as say PS does. Also, it seems to take a ridiculously long time for the object to be selected, it was much quicker before. Anything I can do to help with either of those things?

See this article for how to remove objects more reliably:

Most complaints about Remove are addressed in the article. But if it doesn't help, please attach a full-resolution JPEG exported from the unmodified original photo (not a screenshot), so we and Adobe can see the issue in detail. Não consigo usar esse recurso já tem mais de uma semana. Aparece um erro "Falha na Remoção Generativa"

@educorreafoto: "I haven't been able to use this feature for over a week now. I get an error message saying "Generative Removal Failed""

Sometimes firewalls and anti-malware / anti-virus utilities incorrectly block some network requests from LR. Try these troubleshooting steps:

- Temporarily disable all the firewall / anti-malware on your computer. If that solves the problem, then add a specific exclusion for LR to the firewall's rules.

- Connect to another network, preferably one serviced by a different ISP. E.g. a Wifi connection of a neighbor, a coffee shop, work, or your phone's hotspot. Sometimes the routers in these networks block LR's requests, especially in authoritarian countries like China.

I feel the Beta version of Generative AI we had was much better than the end result.  I am getting so frustrated trying to get clean areas around things.  I guess i don't feel like it is identifying objects as well as it was.

I don't see in your screenshot what you're referring to?  In addition to calling out what's going wrong, please attach a full-resolution JPEG exported from the unmodified original photo (not a screenshot), so we and Adobe can see the issue in detail. With nearly everyone who has posted a problem photo, including those who initially though LR 14 was doing worse, we've been able to show how to quickly remove the desired objects.

Want to remove electric lines in between font object an and background mountains.

AI removes houses, busches, trees in background mountains and enhances the electric lines to give them more contrast

This is not the desired effect.

Thanks

Herbert

Power lines can require a little extra care.  See this post:

Also note that Remove without Generative AI checked (the old content-aware remove) is sometimes easier to use than Generative AI Remove, though in all the examples provided in this thread, Generative Remove works.

I tried out the new option for remove objects. And it took out half of the subjects face. No worries, I turned it off again.

But now it is stuck on no matter what option the toggle switch is set to.

It’s a shame that AI is only integrated for object removal! A localized generative AI would be very welcome! Until that happens, Luminar Neo will remain No. 1… (with regret).

Instead of removing the object, it replaces it with something similar and with a very artificial quality!

We want to REMOVE  the object and mainly, persons.

Thank you and keep up the good work. we are in the right way.
