This post is applicable to Lightroom Classic.
ETAs for tethered support for specific cameras are not available.
Tethered Capture is a feature of Lightroom Classic that allows the direct connection of your camera to the Lightroom desktop environment. Images are imported into your Lightroom catalog as they are captured via the connected camera.
New camera support for reading the raw files is generally added quickly after a camera is released by its manufacturer. New camera support can be verified here: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html.
Tethered support for a particular camera model normally follows a version or two after the raw file support. Adobe relies on the manufacturer’s (Nikon & Canon) SDK (Software Development Kit) to facilitate the tethering of your camera to Lightroom. The timing of the release of a manufacturer’s support via their SDK greatly affects the time to release for tethered support. In addition, Adobe goes through a rigorous process of integrating the functionality of the SDK and tests tethering before support is announced.
To see if your camera is supported for tethering on your version of Lightroom, refer to this document: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support.html
If your camera is listed, but your Lightroom version is too old, you may need to update or upgrade to enable tethering.
If your camera is not listed, and your camera’s raw file isn't supported, you would need to check with the camera’s manufacturer to see if they support tethering via their SDK.
Note: Not all camera manufacturers or models will necessarily receive tether support.

Unfortunately Adobe doesn't say anything about the release date of new features. So you have to patient and wait until Adobe implement the tether support.

Do you have any information on the Nikon ZF's connected mode in direct shooting mode in Lightroom? All the others in the Z series work but not the ZF? Thank you for your information

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hello Adobe Team,
Lightroom have improved so much in the recent years that I am considering switching to Lightroom for studio tethering.
However, Lightroom tethering must run on rosetta which makes Lightroom run very slow, and after capturing 50 plus photos, the speed becomes worst.
I had to optimise catalog and relaunch everytime, which slows production.
I think solving this issue is key for user migration from capture one. Lots of people have been talking about this on reddit.
Please and thankyou.

Hallo,

As it's not in the list, there's no way to know when. Generally it's added within a version or two of release. The R7 and R10 were added recently for example.

You can use EOS Utility, or whatever Canon's current tether app is combined with Auto Import in the mean time.

Is there any news about tethering support for the R6 mark II? It has now been almost two years since it was marketed.

Adobe do not comment upon when a camera will or won't be supported. All that you can do is wait for the next LrC update and hope that support for the EOS R6 MkII is included.

Hello Heroes!
The news of the introduction tethering for SONY alpha cameras made me extremely happy. What a disappointment it was when I connected my not such old A7R mark IIIa 😞
I know the equipment is not the newest but sill in shape and many photographers still use them.
Is there a chance for support older cameras in the future?

In version 13.3 LR now supports tethered capture for Sony cameras. It's great! But in supported camera list there are only few last cameras. Is this list final or may be at least classic A7III will added?

It looks like LR is relying on Sony's Camera Remote SDK (just as it relies on the Canon and Nikon SDKs), and the SDK only supports a limited number of cameras (scroll down to "Specifications"):

So maybe direct your feedback to Sony.

"Finally, Lightroom supports tethering with Sony cameras. It's sad, though, that not all cameras are supported. Will Adobe be changing this? I have a Sony A7Riii, and I've been waiting for years for tethering support for Sony Professional Lightroom.
I have been using Lightroom for all my editing for over 15 years. It is extremely frustrating not to be able to tether a job to Lightroom. I have to PAY for Capture One just for tethering. Aaaaaah!!!! PLEASE, Adobe, add more Sony cameras. A7Riii."

The new Lightroom 13.3 update finally supports tethering with Sony cameras... but not my Alpha 7r III (that is perfectly capable of tethering with other apps, such as Sony Edge).
Might you pls update the connection drivers to support this Sony camera models, that are still super capable of pro results? (and very used as well)
Thanks

Its great that you can perform tethered shooting with Sony cameras since the release of Lightroom classic 13.3. So it would be great if there will be added more sony cameras to the tethered shooting like the A7 III. Is it planed that there will follow some more sony modells?

So LR won't support additional cameras until Sony adds them to its SDK. You might send feedback to Sony about this.
