Question

persistently exclude faces or patterns from facial recognition, persistently reject wrong faces in similar faces

Hi,

I am using the facial recognition feature of LR 7.4 classic and tend to stumble in the following situation:

I have multiple photos containing the same person and have to confirm page after page of recognizes faces as being this person. Sometimes there are random patterns or other persons that are proposed as the face of the person of interest and that keep popping up in the next list of similar faces after I deselected them and confirmed the correct faces. Can I persistently exclude patterns from the search results? Can I persistently exclude faces from people whom I do not know the name of and who are just by chance in one of my photos?

I did not find pertinent information via a web search so far.

thanks in advance,

Ludwig

Have you seen this thread: Remove faces from facial recognition

Also does the Skip option work? It is #4 at the bottom of this knowledge base article: Use Intelligent facial recognition in Lightroom Classic CC

    4. In the Find Faces Again dialog, ensure that the following options are selected.

    • Skip Over Photos That Have Not Been Previously Indexed
    • Skip Over Photos With Manually Confirmed Faces

    Click Confirm.

Lightroom Classic now re-runs face detection to upgrade the existing face records but excludes photos that have never had face detection run before. Any photos that have at least one confirmed face or at least one manually drawn face region are also excluded to preserve your previous edits; the unconfirmed faces is those photos remain unconfirmed.

Thank you very much for answering. I fear that your answer does not solve my problem. I do not want to exclude photos, I do want to permanently exclude random patterns, e.g. a grid, that are mistakenly detected as the person that I'm working on, see example below.  And I would like to permanently exclude persons whom I do not know the name of and in whom I am not interested.

    regards,

Gosh - this seems like it may not come up all that often. I wonder if others can chime in. I think the way the logic works now you would exclude this and move on... Does your library contain many such instances of patterns?

I see a lot of these "faces". Almost anything can be detected as being a face. In the dialog where you confirm similar faces to belong to the person you are working on there seems to be no way to exclude unknown faces or non-faces. What I can do is to go through the 25000+ unnamed faces and delete or exclude unknown faces or non-faces there, but this adds another layer of tedious work. I have to confirm the "similar faces" anyhow and could in the same procedure also delete or reject unknown faces or non-faces. If from any reason I have Lightroom detect faces anew, all the unknown faces or non-faces are there again. As said it should be possible to permanently mark these faces as "unwanted".

    Maybe I am missing something?
