Photos corrupt / grayed in database (can’t delete)

Hello

During a file import (approx 300 files) I had four items that seem to be corrupted in the LR database.    These four don’t show any actual image (they just look like a grey box).   In addition there is no file name shown or any other info.    When I right click on them to try to delete them from the library nothing happens.

My question is how I can remove these corrupted entries from the database?   I tried to run optimize and the back up (which claims it is checking database integrity).    Neither option seems to have help bring these to a state that I can do anything with them.

Has anyone seen this issue before or have any ideas?

Thanks

Harley

These are false database records. I have seen this problem discussed here a few times, and apart from perhaps manually removing them with some SQL editor, the best option seems to be to restore the catalog from a backup.

Interesting....   so you need to basically restore it from just before the import?   They don’t have any cleanup/repair utility that you can run on the db?     Do you happen to have a link to the previous discussion?

Yes, restore the catalog from a backup just before the import and then import the images again. Another option is to select all images except the empty cells, and then export these as a new catalog. See Grey thumbnails that can't be deleted? and Grey boxes appearing in Lightroom

There is no repair utility that I know of.

Are they identifiably shots you are missing?

I can see that you can't delete them from Lightroom, but is there any metadata attached to the thumbnail?

It might others to see screen shot of this as well as have LR system version and OS thanks

They are shots that were part of the import for sure.   The problem is that I was moving the items as part of the import and since they were a few hundred of them I don’t know exactly which files are the problem.    I am at work but can send a screen shot when I get home.    I am running LR Classic latest version on an iMac running latest OSX.

Basically the items show up in the grid, but the boxes are just grey (like it would look before it generated thumbnails).    Plus there is no information on the items (no file name, metadata, anything).    If I try to do anything with them (like develop etc) it either does nothing or freezes up.     When I try to right click on the items to go to remove nothing happens.
