Photos turning dark one by one - Lightroom Classic 13.1 - please help

Can anyone help.
I have a macbook with the lastest sonoma 14.3.1

I updated to lightroom classic 13.1

Everything was fine yesterday - but just now when I select an image in develop - it darkens  - it is doing this with all of them, even if they were previously edited.

Is this a known issue?

Is there anything I can do?

Help - I am a bit of a technophobe - but this is really troubling me.

Sending two images - one in library - same image after a second in develop (the darker image)

I've had this problem through several cameras and several macs.  I thought I had it fixed with my Nikon Z6, but not my D7000, by changing default camera setting, once all the previews were in.

Mac OS Sonoma 14.2, Lightroom Classic 14.0.1, Nikon D7000.  Only old thing here is the D7000 camera.

I keep embedded previews upon import, and have tried altering the default to camera setting both upon import, and after import.  Still get the one by one darkening and destruction of my good camera work, which I then have to edit one by one, which basically quadrulples my processing time.  Just makes me feel like Lightroom is useless!  And I've searched many many posts on this ... why isn't there one definitive answer?  Why doesn't LR just show what I exposed for instead of its own previews?  My brain's too full to absorb all the technical reasons, i just need the solution.  Can you sense my impatience lol ... if anyone has any ideas here, they'd be so much appreciated.  Thank you.

I'm having the same issue.
Say I'm working with a group of images.
I have gone through all of the images with all presets/settings adjusted. The image will look great.
then, if I go back to a previously edited image in the same group, as soon as I click on it, it will just change and look underexposed! It's almost by 2 stops every time.
then if I export that image, the exported version looks normal! However, if I try to re-adjust the exposure before exporting, the image will be overexposed by about 2 stops! It's maddening! What's strange, is that it doesn't do it all the time. I've sent out 3 wedding galleries recently, thousands of images with no issue. But today, I start on a new one, and boom the issue is back.
I had just installed the latest update a couple days ago, and today went back to the previous version, but no change! Looking for answers.  I know how LR works, I've been a user since version 2. I'm not looking at previews or camera jpegs.  I only shoot RAW. This issue has been happening intermittently for the last couple of years.  I know my computer is a bit old..

2019 MacBook Pro, I9, 32 gb ram,2tb internal,  updated graphics card. And yes it is using the added card not the original..

Curious to see/learn. For one of the images in question, In the Develop Module, reset several settings.

  1. /Develop/Clear History/
  2. Right Panel. bottom, Reset
  3. Presets /Classic General/Zeroed/

Does the image return to what an unedited RAW would look like? Or does something wild occur after a bit of time?

If it i behaving, than apply that particular preset, Does it look correct?

Ok I think I have located the problem now - after going through every scenario.

On this particular shoot - I had shot with jpg and raw - and then switched on to Heic and Raw (this is on a Nikon Z8.) On the older Catalogue (light room 12) this was all fine.

When I upgraded to 13.1 - the raw  images next to jpgs - all behaved fine. for some reason there is an issue when I have paired it with a Heic file. the Heic is ok - but the Raw in library is fine, then when I place it in develop it behaves weirdly, and the settings move to underexpose. Hopefully this issue will be resolved . I tested this in a separate brand new catalogue and all was fine, it is just the upgraded catalogue. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks so much .

Such I notifiy adobe?

Not I phone, but a Nikon Z8 and they are seen as Hif Files - and they are separate files in preferences .

Lightroom classic – 13.1

Mac OS Senoma 14.3.1

Upgraded Cat from 12 - to 13. 1 (previously no issues.

Camera Model Nikon Z8 files Heic and Raw

Behaves fine with Jpg and Raw

Issue:

Step 1 – to reproduce the use – Open the raw file in library (make sure this is a Nikon Z8 next to a Heic/HIf file

Step 2 Open same raw file in Develop module

Step 3 Observe the Histogram  -

Step 4. Histogram moves to the left – underexposing.

Expected result – Light Room Classic develop should not change the raw file – unless this is done Intentionally  by user.

Actual result Light Room Classic Develop changes the raw file and under exposes it.

Files are attached as Screen Grabs - this only happens when next to a Hif file

This only happens in an upgraded cat - when I tried it in a new Cat if behaved as expected.

Hope this can be resolved.

Settings have been applied, and one by one indicates you're seeing a preview update. Somewhere you're applying a setting to everthing. It's the Preset Germany Alps 1 in this case.. Is Auto Sync turn on?

Thanks Sean,

Auto sync isn't turned on.

I have just tried again with another image and did a virtual copy from the library -

It had a preset I created - fine in library as virtual copy = then when in develop it was fine for about 2 seconds, and then histogram changed, all moved to far left= I will send you the two files.

This is really worrying me. I am a photographer with work to process - and there must be something that is causing it to happen, but I have no idea. If you have any idea that would be wonderful.
