I am upgrading to a new PC: installed Lightroom 6 ok from DVD, and added serial number. Now though, when starting it suggests I need to sign in to activate, then goes round and round in circles. I have tried an option posted of on this forum, to install the Creative Cloud Desktop App, which is fine, and does show that the product is licensed to me. I would really love to carry on using it on my new PC. Any help in solving this would be appreciated.
Some points as I understand-
1) Activation servers at Adobe have been turned off. Online Activation is not possible.
2) Installing the Creative Cloud Desktop App will automatically convert Lr6 to Lr-CC2015: A subscription version with only 30days trial.
3) Other forum posts suggest there is an offline way to activate. (You will have to clean the CC Desktop off your system!)

There are now so many difficulties keeping Lr6 running it is becoming imperative to graduate to the Photography Plan that includes Version 14 (now known as Lightroom-Classic).

Thanks for the update. I only really use it for organising & tagging photos, but it would be a massive job to re-do it.
I'll investigate the Lightroom-Classic subscription. If it can import from LR6 and keep some of my data that may be worth the cost.

Yes the subscription to the Photography Plan 20GB has many advantages with all the improvements that have been made. I pay more for a MacDonalds hamburger once a month than a subscription that includes Lightroom-Classic and Photoshop!
One caveat- I have now seen a couple of forum posts that suggest that Lr-Classic v14 will no longer upgrade catalogs from Version 6 (and earlier). Although if a v6 catalog will not upgrade to v14 there is a work-around to preserve edits by saving metadata to files in Lr6 (IF you have v6 running!).

I can still run LR6 on my old PC, but hoping to switch everything to my new one in the coming days. I've done most of the data & programs, it's only this that's causing me grief!

Why is it causing grief? @Rob_Cullen gave you the link to the offline activation procedure for Lr 6, and many people find that it works. Did you try that?

It has been causing me grief because, so far, all other programs and data have ported quite smoothly to my new PC, even some software which is around 15 years old now. It was a minor gripe in the scheme of things. I have much appreciated @Rob_Cullen for his advice and helpful posts, and was planning on trying the new subscription plan on my new PC.
