Problems with Lightroom importing ARW files from new Sony a1

Cannot directly import ARW files shot on new Sony a1 into Lightroom (latest version).  Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

    Adobe has released dng converter 13.2 which will allow you to convert your A1 arw files to dng files that can be edited in Classic. That might hold you over until Classic 10.2 is released finally.

    This is a big shortcoming in Adobe's non-friendly approach to etting users know a bit of what's going on. Certainly the software engineers could flag a .arw file to generate a message such as 'these files not supported in curent version of LR' or similar. Would save time by being straightforward about it, rather than searchng for an external answer. Then again, the UI designers must have some philosophical bug which prevents them from being helpful.

    Hi,

     

    I just resived my Sony A1 and was bummed about the Sony RAW format .hif from the A1 cant be directly uploaded to lightroom?? Any one know anything?


    I had to converted the files to .dng with sony´s Edge software wich seems retared from a workflow and editing perspective.

    Adobe?

    Anyone?

     

    (Adobe Creative cloud user for years. All software updated).

    Yeah for some reason Adobe hasn't yet started supporting HEIF/HEIC files from non-Apple devices yet. Probably because they are not actually raw files (they're just a bit better alternatives to jpeg and already baked images, so nothing like raw) and therefore likely not very high priority for them. They should be basically identical to files produced by iPhones but for some reason that is not clear at all, Lightroom won't read them.

    Hi,

    I have LRC 10.2 installed and the software does not recognize my A1 files.  Any insight?

    I need to still use the converter which slows the workflow.  Anyone is experiencing the same problem?

    Triple-check that LR 10.2 is actually installed by doing the menu command Help > System Info -- it's not uncommon that the Creative Cloud app fools users into thinking they're on "the latest".

     

    If you indeed have 10.2 installed, post a screenshot of the Import window open on the folder containing Alpha 1 photos you want to import.  There could be clues there.

      In the interim (until release of LrC 10.2) you can 'Open' your files with ACR 13.2 (Open with Photoshop 22.3), do some editing, then click the [Done] button. You edits will 'save' to an XMP sidecar file (ready for LrC to import).

      The [Done] button avoids opening Photoshop (no extra PSD or TIFFs created).

        The Sony Alpha 1 will be supported in LR 10.2, which isn't released yet:

        Some Adobe.com help pages like that above are mentioning 10.2, and senior Adobe engineer MadManChan posted recently that it will be released "very soon".  Adobe rarely gets more specific than that.  Usually LR releases mid-week (with exceptions).
