Question

quality of RAW file support for Nikon Z 6 III – variable tint across the frame

Dear Adobe team,

I like and i rely completely on Lightroom Classic for my tens of thousands of Nikon NEF files per year.

Recently, when critically reviewing images taken with the Nikon Z 6 III (24-120 f4, 24-70 f2.8 and others) and comparing them with images edited using the exactly the same editing pipeline (using almost 100% the "Camera Neutral" profile) i've discovered a relatively strongly visible issue: the tint isn't equal across the frame. The left side and corners of the frame seem to have an at least +10 tint compared to the centre but also compared to the right side of the frame. This is not the case for my Z 6 images. I can of course not rule out at the moment that this is a camera issue but may be i'm not the only one seeing this? Happy to share sample files (particulary visible with winter images of snow and blue sky across the frame (where the tint is visibly variable across the frame).

Thanks in advance, and best wishes,

Steffen

Dear all, sorry - didn't find the time last night and am now away from the Mac that holds the Lightroom library. However: i did a few admittedly so far unscientific experiments with a ZII and a ZIII (both my ZIII and a new one) at my local camera shop. To the camera specialist/salesperson and me it looked as though that the uneven tint across the frame may be a generalised ZIII issue since it was even visible in the EVF (and the rear screen) of both ZIII but not the ZII (when shooting a white wall)... will keep you posted.

Yes, please post some sample files.

You should be able to attach NEF files here, as long as they're smaller than 48 MB.

However, you've posted in the Bugs section, which does not allow for attaching files when replying.

Since this is not a bug, and also belongs in the Lightroom Classic forum, I'll ask a moderator to move this thread to Lightroom Classic, and change it to a Discussion, which will let you attach files.

Thanks Per. But who says that this is not a bug? I've never come across such an issue in almost 20 years of using Lightroom (since version 0.x)....

Adobe says that it is not a bug ... until you provide reproducible evidence to confirm it is LrC doing this.

By the way, no other Nikon Z6III user is reporting this.

What happens if you open this image in a different RAW processort like Capture 1 or Dark Therapee or DXO? Do you see the same?
