Reverse Image Search (Including PSD files) for Desktop - Like Google Image Search

Hi everybody,

I work with massive ad builds that involve PSD, PNG, and JPG files. I work from an old set of images (PSD, etc) and ususally work within these files to template out other sizes.

Sometimes in the process a few of these files might get missed. It would be great to have something that says "Is there any imges that look like 'this image' in the folder?" That way if it looked like the old campaign, I'd see it and be able to update with new creative without searching/scanning through 20 folders.

Does anybody know of a native or software solution where I can seek an image within a certain folder and get results in finding the same image by 'image', not size or file type (similar to Google Image Search)? Can Lightroom do a search by pixel identification of sorts?

Something like that in this age of digital production would be DIVINE.

Thanks for any suggestions, even with the programs I mentioned.

This question comes up now and then, but right now I can only find thread from 2017 that recommends VisiPics:

Unfortunately, it looks like VisiPics doesn't support PSD/PSB.

You could try my Any Vision plugin's Find With Similar Labels.  Any Vision uses Google AI to assign semantic labels to the contents of the images, and Find With Similar Labels looks for photos with similar labels.  It may work well for your needs or maybe not.

Hi John,

That Any Vision thing looks pretty cool. I'm not sure if it's what I need, but when I'm not working later I need to check that out. If it could do basic image matching/finding that should do the job. I'm searching for movie posters so I suggest one movie poster 'image data' as a query, if it can retrieve posters that look like that one then that would work. The posters before/after that are involved are vastly different, and I'd only be sourcing the default one that's being replaced.

Thanks!

Any Vision may do well with the poster example, since Google AI could label the content of the posters much differently. But hard to know until you try it.  Also, if there is clear text on the posters, Any Vision will do a pretty good job of extracting the text, and you could do a LR text search with the "contains" operator to find other images that also have the same words in their recognized text.

Another thought if you don't find something to Visipics that works with PSDs: Export all the PSDs back into the catalog as JPEGs, stacked under the PSDs.  Then use Visipics to search for the JPEGs.
