right after the splash screen lightroom 6 crashes

Dear community,

Good afternoon,

I've been using Lightroom 6 on my system for quite some time and my computer went haywired and Dell had to replace the ram and motherbord in my labtop but now when I start lightroom (right after the splash screen) it crashes. I have reinstalled it, but didn't change anything.

Do you have any idea about how to continue?

Try resetting the preferences first. Use method 2 in the article I linked to. The file will not be named Lightroom Classic CC 7 Preferences.agprefs as it says in the article, probably Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs.

The preferences file is not affected by uninstalling/reinstalling. If it has been corrupted, it will still be corrupted after reinstalling.

And you checked for a lock file that did not get deleted?

If a lock file is present, it will not be possible to get as far as the splash screen.

You'd get the message about the catalog being open in another application before the launch even starts.

It seems something is not getting uninstalled preveting a clean install.  So on the Standalone Lightroom 6 how can I do this.

Assuming that you're using Lightroom 6 from around 2015 (predecessor to Lightroom Classic), and not version 6 of the cloud version of Lightroom, which is named "Lightroom" –

Start by resetting the preferences, see this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

Method 3 is not available in Lightroom 6.

I think method 1 will work, may depend your version of Lr 6. (which exact version is it?)

Method 2 will definitely work.

If resetting the preferences doesn't help. please go to Help > System info, click the Copy button and paste in a new reply here. This is a lot of text, and you can delete everything below Installed plugins.

Also note that you can download the latest (final) version of Lr 6 – 6.14 – from here:

I will try download the 6.14 but I have the standalone lightroom. Even if I try to open just a default catalog to get lightroom to open it still crashes. Maybe there is hidden filles that are not being remove when I uninstall.
