Setting Default brush effect in develop module

Does anyone know if it's possible to set a default brush effect in the develop module? As an example I want to have a particular effect remain as the defaut effect si that it opens automatically each and every time I choose the brush option. I would prefer that it was the soft skin effect, however it seems to default to the soft skin(lite) option whenever I choose the brush effect. It remembers the last brush effect if working on the same image but it does not retain the last brush used when you open a new image to work on.

 

Is ther a setting I can change in the default/preferences or even in the windows registry?

You can set the default as follows. Select a brush, but do not brush anything yet. Select the preset you want as default (or change the sliders manually). Lightroom will remember this as the default until you change sliders again before applying the brush. Also make sure you uncheck the 'Reset sliders' checkbox all the way at the bottom of the panel.

    Thank you,

    This appears to give me what I want. however I imagine that if I change a
    slider or effect this will become the new default. It just means that I
    will need to ensure I finish my edits with the effect I want to maintain as
    my default for my next session.

    No, you are not getting it. The way to work with the brush is first brush something, and then you can change the sliders without this becoming the new default.
