Hello,
I found that this feature was requested several times and as it was not fulfilled, I add my voice and ask again for displaying file names in filmstrip view.
When You edit thousand of pictures and Your client sends You a photo selection based on file names, it would save a lot of time to see the file names directly and not be having to mouse over and look in the status bar. It would be much better for orientation when scrolling through a huge collection.
Thanks!
Radim

If the client is using the Real file name of the image then use the Filter Bar, Text option, to search for it. That way you don't have to scroll through all the images in the film strip or the grid area.

Thanks for the tip. But that needs to switch from Develop mode to Library, search, go back to Develop and then if You need to see the filmstrip, for example, to compare to compare two following images, You must go back to Library and cancel the search and go back.
For searching one or ten files it is ok, but if You need to search 300 from 5000, then it is too clicky ...

I agree with those who have posted that it would be very helpful to have file names show in filmstrip.

You can add your UpVote and follow at the below request for this capability, but don't hold your breath waiting. That post is eight years old!

The File Name is shown in the bar just above the actual Film Strip. And the Folder or All Photos or a Collection name that you have selected.
Also when you move the cursor from image to image the image name changes on that bar.
You can also display the file name of images in the Grid View along with other info of you choosing.
Switching back and forth to the grid and the develop module is just a keystroke, g to go to the grid view and d to go to the develop module. If you want to view the selected image in the loupe view then hit the e key.

Hey Adobe! For at least 8 YEARS your customers have been asking to have the filenames displayed on the filmstrip! We are still waiting!
And before someone pops off with "just hover your mouse" or "go to grid view" NO! You might be happy with that, but I am not. We are requesting a relatively minor and simple feature that would help save us a lot of time. It boggles the mind that it hasn't yet been implemented. If you can show the index number (which I have never in ten years of using lightroom needed to know), then you can add the option to see the filename (which I need EVERY SINGLE DAY).
Thanks so much!
