Question

Slideshow glitches when audio added on LR Classic 14.1.1 - Windows

1. LR Classic 14.1.1
2. Tested on Windows 10 and Windows 11
3. Steps to reproduce :

  • Create a collection, move to slideshow module
  • Add music mp3 file
  • Hit "preview" or "play"
  • Slideshow starts with music playing and then music stops before it reaches the end of mp3 and starts over from the beginning of the song

- Reproduced for cases when mp3 length is less than slideshow play time, exact match with "Fit to music" option

- Same problem when exporting video - in exported mp4 file sound restarts
- When switched to version 13.5.1 on the same system (Windows 11) and created slideshow from the same files with same mp3 everything works fine

**Issue:** In Lightroom Classic 14.1.1, slideshow music restarts before finishing — happens in both **preview** and **export**. **When:** If the MP3 is **shorter than** the slideshow or “**Fit to Music**” is used. **Fix:** Use **Lightroom Classic 13.5.1** — no issue there. **How to downgrade (via Creative Cloud):**

1. Click the **three dots (⋮)** next to Lightroom

2. Choose **“Other Versions”**

3. Install **version 13.5.1**

Trying to use music recorded on iPhone 15's " voice memos". Found that Voice Memo is not mp3, it is m4a .
I can "put" the music clip into Slideshow, but the music will not play.

I had this exact problem and resolved it by ripping the track to m4a (AAC).  As to why, we'll leave that for another time when I need to waste 3 hours.

Right, seems they can't process mp3 files created by Audiocity correctly, but m4a works just fine ...
Hope I will remember it next time when I'm creating LR slideshow 🙂

Same issue in 14.2

I'm encountering what seems to be the same issue. I made a slideshow and wanted to use a song but the song keeps starting over in the same spot of the song. I can change the picture that it starts over on, but it still does it in the same spot. I tried another song by the same singer and it started over sooner and more than once. I tried other songs by other people and they seem to work ok. I think, but I'm not sure, that the song I want to use did work one time.

For everyone looking for a workaround - seems installing FFmpeg library and exporting Audiocity project as mp4a file resolved the problem and LR slideshow works fine with it.

I've been reviewing this with the Classic team as neither they nor I can reproduce this problem. They've requested some information about your audio files.

  • We are looking for an actual audio file if you can share it
  •  We also need to know (if you can't share the file) the Bitrate, Quality, Codec, and Format of your audio file.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Rikk,

Thank you for looking into it  !

I tried few mp3 files, tried diferent bitrates also. For all of them problem was reproduced.

Two of them (except "Alta marea.p3" ) were created by Audiocity, I've seen other customers reported same problem with mp3 generated by Audiocity as well.
Please see attached.

Can anyone with same setup (Windows , LC Classic 14.1.1) try the slideshow with music track and confirm (or not) the issue, please ?

Win 11, Lightroom Classic 14.3.1, similar problems with MP3 music files and slideshow. MP3 files created with Audacity. Similar files created with DaVinci Resolve; similar issues in Lightroom slideshow of music skipping back to start of file partway through. Used DaVinci Resolve to export audio in MP4 format, and everything worked fine.

On a side note, I wish Adobe would put some development effort into slideshows, such as 4K video option (table stakes these days).

So converting the mp3 to mp4 worked, so the audio stopped starting over? I'll have to look up DaVinci Resolve.

I'm also having an issue where the show just isn't playing at all. I turned off the graphics card and it didn't help. For some reason, I seem to be able to play shows I've already made, sometimes. But not new ones. I also chatted with Adobe help, and the person suggested changing the template. It seemed to work twice, but then it stopped working, too.

I don't know what to do. I guess go back and chat with another person on Adobe help.

Lightroom 14.1.1
OS Windows 10 Business Edition

I've been having a weird issue for a few months now. I regularly make slideshows that feature two songs, and lately, I've been encountering issues with the transition between the two songs.

The first song will play correctly, but when the second song begins it will play 5-10 seconds correctly and then restart from the beginning of the song. This restart persists if I export the slideshow, creating an awkward moment.

I've been trying to fix it by deleting both tracks and changing their file names before re-adding them to the slideshow, but sometimes, the issue persists even after that, so I end up deleting and renaming the songs six or seven times before they play correctly.

Help, this is slowly eating away at my sanity. 😅
