Slow minor editing adjustments in lightroom on Mac Mini M1

Hej! I need help to understand what is the issue with my computer, and running lightroom specifically. Photoshop is no problem outside of opening images to edit from lightroom directly.

In lightroom any small edit adjustment brings up the dreaded spinning wheel and the situation I think has gotten gradually worse over the last months. I tried to make some adjustments and clear some space - for example moving my dropbox to online only.

I suspect it is the computer - but perhaps the external drive where the images are stored?

Here is the file with the system info. Any help appreciated.

"Library Path: /Volumes/2024 2 /2024 2 /2024 2 /2024 2 .lrcat"

As a diagnostic step, try copying the catalog folder (/Volumes/2024 2 /2024 2 /2024 2 /) to the Desktop and opening it there.

I wish I had the words to explain how much this helped me, I had gone down every possible rabbit hole in the wrong direction. I am so so appreciative. I found a few copies of corrupt catologues in the external drive folder and this one is working fast now from the desktop. I will start fresh with a new catologue stored locally for now but I am so relieved the computer itself is not the big issue at the moment. Thank you!!!
