Question

Slow moving to next image

I have been using Lightroom Classic for editing a gallery of wedding photos and everytime I try to do a simple task, anything from clicking from one photo to the next or applying a preset, it lags significantly.

I am working off of a MacBook Pro (Sonoma 14.5) (2.2 GHz 6-core Intel Core i7) with 74 GB available of 250.

I have optimized the catalog and the catalog only has 3000 photos, which is a decent amount, but not much more for any other wedding gallery I have edited over the last 5 years...

Any suggestions are helpful!

If you're referring to the Devlop module, then the issue may be related to the new caching behaviour introduced in LrC 13.3, which can be very demanding of VRAM. The more information and data points that can be collected, the better chance we have of attracting the Develop teams attention.

Please post a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. You can copy the info using the Copy button from within the dialog. Paste same into your post in new thread.

Not a good idea to put your phone number in a public forum.

There are a number of threads recently regarding slow moving to the next image. I do not know if an answer has been found. I suggest you search for these threads.

Hey, @Jana24835391ez3e. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out. Before troubleshooting, please update Lightroom Classic to the latest version (v13.3.1) via the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Where do you keep your Lightroom catalog & the original images? Do the presets include masks & resource heavy features like Lens Blur?

Try these suggestions:

1 - In Lightroom Classic > Preferences > Performance & set the Camera Raw caches to 15 GB, or more.

2 - Try resetting Lightroom Classic following the manual method shared here: https://adobe.ly/4aPIWol

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

LR is updated to the newest version, camera raw cache is 20 GB, what exactly will resetting LR do?

Sometimes LrC's preferences get "garbled" and then the program misbehaves. So resetting the preferences fixes this. Keep a copy of the old preferences just in case it doesn't help.
