Hi, when I convert a photo from RAW to DNG format, spot removal will create these weird artifacts for me. Does anyone have experience with this, please?

It's apparently a known problem:

One workaround may be to simply not convert to DNG, which AFAICT helps with:

  • this particular problem
  • the broader efficiency of changing external XMP metadata being isolated to small sidecar files only

I'm doing this for file shrinking and archiving. But this is a big mistake.
