Star rating not behaving as it should in survey mode

I always compare photos in front of a client in the survey mode. The client then moves a favourite photo into the next star rating . So out of a batch of say four in the survey mode i click on a photo say 2* and it used to just move that one photo into the two star folder. Easy.

Now - its putting all the photos highlighted in the survey mode into the two star folder WHY??

In the Library Module, do you have Metadata>Enable AutoSync toggled on?

Hmm, I'm not observing that. But I may not be doing the precise steps you're doing. Please attach a full-resolution screen recording (not phone video) of the entire LR window showing the steps you're taking and the misbehavior.
