Starting LR- catalog from Win- PC to a Mac book pro

Hi guys,

My win- pc crashed 2 weeks ago, and I decided to change to a mac book pro! So far so great!

When I was working on my win- pc I always saved my data (catalog and pictures(in folders), with a sync program (which worked well) on 3 different harddisks.

So everything I ever did should be saved I thought.

I have to say, that I work with LR 6 since Dec. 2016, and I have about 15000 pics in my LR- catalog.

So I started my Mac book, installed LR, copied the catalog from the harddisk(external) on the mac book, opend that catalog... then it shows the 15000 pics, with the stars, but no pictures, only grey background.

So I thought last step would be, to import the pictures from the external harddisk, and LR- would recognize, that this pictures are the same, from the catalog...

But here is my problem: LR can't fit them together, it says I have 30000 pics, the 15000 from catalog, and the 15000 new importet (but they are the same, from the catalog).

What can I do, to fit catalog an pics together?? Or is all the work I have done away?

Hope somebody can help me here!!!

Importing the 15000 pictures was an unnecessary step and a mistake. The correct thing to do is to revert to one of your saved catalogs with just the original 15000 images. Then, since the images are in a different location on your Mac compared to what was on the Windows box, you must "locate missing photos." This is a simple thing if all your images are under one top level folder, just locate that folder and all should be well. If you have multiple top level folders, you'll need to repeat for each one.
