Storage issues with Lightroom

Hello,

I'm uploading full wedding galleries to lightroom and instead of going to the cloud it is taking up all my mac storage. I need to have multiple wedding galleries in there at once to edit during wedding season. I'm not sure how to keep it in the cloud.

As you sound a bit confused on where LrC accesses the original photos, I think a couple of points need to be stated:

  • The photos are not in the catalog, they are seperate files wherever you placed them during import
  • A backup of the catalog does not backup the photos
  • Keep good, and multiple, backups of your catalog
  • Keep good, and multiple backups of your photos.
  • Consider keeping a backup of your LrC presets, plugins, templates, etc.
  • Do not keep backups on the same drive as the source.

As for some more on point info, a few links:

Please give more information. Are you using Lightroom or Lightroom Classic? You posted this in the Lightroom Classic forum. Lightroom Classic does not store its images in the cloud, but locally.

I'm sorry I must have confused the two versions. Yes I am using Lightroom
Classic. If it is stored locally is there any solution to my issue?
Thank you for the reply!

Lightroom Classic stores your original images locally, there is no way around that. It does not have to be your internal drive, however. So if you do not have enough room on your internal drive, then get an external one and select that as destination for your images in the import dialog.
