Suddenly there's a color mismatch between PS and LrC

This morning I sent a file from LrC 12.3 to PS 24.5 and the appoearance in the two apps was very different, the PS image being more contrasty and saturated than the LrC appearance.  This has been working fine for years and I wonder what's going on.  The working space in PS is ProPhotoRGB and I am sending a copy with Lightroom adjustments.  Any thoughts"?

As a first troubleshooting step, quickly test whether there's a problem with the color profile assigned to your display:

Thanks John.  This is indeed a monitor profile issue.  It's been reported now by a couple of other users and I've gotten back to the calibration software folks who are now working on a fix.

Yes, if this is Calibrite, there is apparently a bug in their software. Several other reports in the PS forum.

Just since it was mentioned - there is no need to "match" Photoshop and Lightroom color settings for external editing. This is a common misunderstanding.

Any embedded profile coming out of Lightroom will be correctly treated in Photoshop. That embedded profile will override the working space in Photoshop. That's how Photoshop is designed to work.

There is also a notion that since Lightroom's internal working color space is a variety of ProPhoto, you need to set ProPhoto in external editing. But those two are unrelated, and there is no need to match them - they won't match in any case, they are two different color spaces. One has linear gamma; the other gamma 1.8.

I got a copy of the 'before' and after profiles, and it is indeed a Calibrate bug; the 'before' is really messed up. All Calibrate customers should inform X-rite that they need to fix this. Or have them recommend where to download an older build that supposedly works as it should.

Calibrite is, I believe, a different company than X-Rite.  Also, I';ve heard from Calibrite support that they're aware of the issue and there should be a fix for this problem quite soon.
