Question

Synced photos not showing up in folders in Lightroom Classic CC

I am using lightroom Classic CC on my desktop computer, but also use lightroom CC on my laptop and lightroom mobile on my phone.

When lightroom syncs my photos from CC and mobile, they appear in the catalogue on Classic CC and are downloaded to my hard drive in a specific folder.  However, when I try to filter my files by folder, the folder which my synced photos are in appears empty.  The photos are definitely on the hard drive (I can see them in windows explorer), definitely in the catalogue (I can see them and edit them in lightroom), I just can't see them when I filter by folder on the left of the screen.  The message on the main window says "No photos in selected folder", and now that I have deleted one of the photos that was in my catalogue from that folder, the count of images in my "Mobile downloads" folder is "-1"

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Also, when I delete photos from lightroom CC, they don't get deleted from lightroom classic if I have already downloaded them - is there any way to make that happen automatically? (The way I discovered all of the above, was that I was trying to do some housekeeping and discard some unwanted photos whilst I was away with just my laptop, but the things I deleted are still on my main catalogue on my desktop computer)

The first part sounds like a bug, I can't imagine how a photo count can show "-1" without that being a bug. Best to report it at the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom CC | Photoshop Family Customer Community

I've given you the link to the LRCC forum, even though you're seeing the problem in LR Classic, as this appears to be a sync-related issue which might be more easily dealt with in that particular forum.

The second part of your query is correct, deleting an image from any of the LRCC apps removes it from the cloud and all other LRCC apps, but if the image was synced to Classic it is not deleted from there, just "un-synced". Whereas deleting a synced image from Classic deletes it also from the cloud and the LRCC apps.

FWIW, if I identify an image using LRCC that I want to delete permanently, i.e. delete from Classic also, I just flag it as "rejected" in LRCC and later I'll delete those rejected images from Classic.
