System goes to sleep during tethered capture

I do studio photography.  I connect my camera (Canon 70D)  to my Windows-based laptop using the tethered-capture setting in Lightroom Classic so the model can see the photo in Lightroom Classic on a larger screen than the back of my camera.

I recently bought a new laptop, an ASUS Q533M Notebook.

My setup worked fine with my previous laptop (an HP laptop), but with my new ASUS laptop, the system goes to sleep after almost every photo I take and I have to re-log in.  I take photos quickly enough that the system should stay active and not go to sleep.  Having to log in before every photo is very problematic.

I don't know if it's an issue with ASUS, Lightroom Classic, Canon, or what.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Hey, @Urban L. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

This is likely related to your Screen Timeout settings in the Power Management profile/system in the Windows OS.

Here is a conversation in Microsoft Community that can help you change the timeout duration: https://adobe.ly/4jLUdLw

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion.  I modified the timeout duration setting.  I haven't had time to test it out yet.  The default is 5 minutes, which SHOULD have been plenty.  But, we'll test it out and see.  Thanks again.

Sure! Let me know how it goes. It also matters if your Laptop is plugged into power, so that may also be a factor to check.

Thanks!
