Tether not working since Lightroom V13

I've been shooting tethered with Lightroom my Canon R5 for a few years with no problem, but since version 13 came out the camera won't even be recognised. So I downgraded to version 12.4 because I've found it's the most stable.
Anyone else having the same problem? Any solutions?

 

I'm shooting with:

Apple Macbook M1 Pro
Canon R5
And Iv'e tried with Alien and Cobra cables.

    Hi

    i also have problem with Canon R5 on Mac with Sonoma. The problem starter before I updated to Sonoma - it came with the one of the latest LrC updates - but sometimes you could get it to work with the Rosetta option - but with the latest update where the Rosetta option was cancelled you are stuck!! As tethering is my main working tool in the studio it is extremely frustrating!!!

    Since it works without a sd card in the camera perhaps you have not yet given Lightroom Classic full disk access in the Privacy and security system settings tab. This allows Lightroom to access removable disks which the sd card would fall under.

    Hi, I've been having problems with tethering for months now. I've already posted twice in this forum and received no response.

     

    I have two different Canon R5 cameras and two different MacBook Pro M1 laptops in my studio. I've tried at least four different tether cable brands (Cobra, TetherTools, Area51, etc.), but I can't get Lightroom Classic to tether. As soon as I start tethering, it remains stuck at the "connecting to camera" window and never establishes a connection.

     

    Interestingly, tethering works perfectly fine on Capture One, but I prefer to have my entire workflow in LR+Photoshop. For the time being, the only solution I've found is to downgrade to Lightroom Version 12.4, and everything works perfectly. It's so bizarre.

     

    I'd love to know if I'm the only one experiencing this issue, or if others are having the same problem.

    Hello, I've been experiencing all these same problems since upgrading to Sonoma OSX.  Although I am using an Olympus camera, let me share that many Oly users are experiencing similar problems.  I tried all of the fixes mentioned in the posts on this page.  One thing worked, sort of: removing the SD card from my camera.  !!  So now I can tether but can capture only to the laptop or computer and not to my SD card.  Yes I have tried several different types of card but result is the same.   Not an ideal solution, but I am mentioning it to you in case it might help you or others.  BTW I am shooting with an OM D E-M5ii.  Good luck.

    Hi, I've read here that upgrading to Sonoma 14.2.1 solves the tethering issues but I'm still not able to connect my camera to my computer. Has anyone find a solution yet? For now I'm on Lightroom version 12.4. Tether works very very slow, but at least it connects.

    I've tried with two Apple M1 Pro computers, several cables, and 3 different Canon R5 bodies.

    I've been tethering for years without problems, I cant seem to understand whats going on.

     

    I'm a professional and I shoot tethered five days a week, I'd love to know if anyone has a solution.

      Hey there. I'm also experiencing some annoying problems. Today, I set up a workaround using the EOS Utility 3 software along with a 'hot folder' in Lightroom. Unfortunately, it's quite slow and only supports tethering JPG files, not RAW. I hope there will be a solution soon! I wished I've never updated!

      Short answer upgrade to Sonoma 14.2.1

       

      TLDR answer

      Looks like it may have been issue with Mac OS 14.2.... after downgrading to 12.4 as you suggested, the tethering was still not working for me.  

       

      After upgrading to latest version of Sanoma 14.2.1 on my laptop, LRC 12.4 tethering started to work.    

       

      After re-upgrading to LRC 13.1, tethering appears to be working again

      I've tried everything and I have problems still, I'm on Sonoma 14.2.1 and tether doesn't work with the latest Lr version. If I go back to 12.4 everything works. I've tried different cables, different R5 bodies and different computers.

       

      I guess I'll keep trying to find a solution.

      Having similar issues with my R5 and v13.  v13.1 supposed to have bug fixes, but did not seem to resolve this issue.
