Question

Tethered capture, but no images show

- Camera: Canon 70D (F/W version: 1.1.3)

- Lightroom Classic (version: 11.5)

- Tethering cable: Tether PRO

- OS: Windows 10 Home

Hi, no photos show up on Lightroom while tethered.
The camera seems to be well connected, because I can see all the setting information on the tethered capture control bar(i.g. ISO, shutter speed, aperture value).
And also the "Live View Mode" is working good.
However, no photos show up.
This is so frustrating.
I had even tried all the tips here. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-tethered-capture-lightroom.html

Saddly, the result is same.

Are the images being stored on the camera memory card? If I recall correctly, you can choose whether to have the image on the card or computer, but not both.

Thank you, but what I know about tethered capture is that the images should be stored on the both at the same time I think.
On my labtob, it worked fine. The images were stored directly on the SD card on my Canon70D and also on the directed folder.

Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'd love to help you figure this out.

Where are you storing the original images from tether capture sessions? On the internal drive or an external drive?

Has this happened since a recent update of the Lightroom Classic, Windows, or the Camera OS?

  • Try creating a test empty catalog on the internal drive by going to File > New Catalog.
  • Direct Lightroom to store images in a folder on the internal drive like the desktop.

Thanks!

Thanks for your comment.

About the stored location of the original images from tehter capture session, I have already tried on the C drive ; where the OS is installed, and on the D drive ; which is the mass storage for my desk top, but it's not even an external drive.
Actually this is my first time to do tethered capture, so I cannot be sure if this is about the recent update of LRc, Windows, or Canon OS. (I updated all of these while I have been trouble shooting on this matter.)

And of course I created an empty catalog on the internal drive at first, too.

Every time I press the shutter button on the camera or click the button on tethered capture control bar(which can be appeared by "Ctrl+T"), only the SD card is storing those images, but not the internal drive. (I am not using external drives.)

Thanks!

I tried tethered capture on "the other device(my laptop: windows 10)", and it works fine.
The images finally show up as soon as I take photos.

This means that the tethering cable and my camera all works fine I guess.

I really don't know why my lightroom classic on my desktop is not showing images while tethering.
