Adobe's tethering has never been as good as Phase One's Image Capture software, in fact it is so slow I can almost not use it for any commercial jobs. Adobe has been clear about its support for tethering. It is not important to them and they seem to be phasing it out.

Here is the thing about tethering support from Adobe. THEY ARE GOING TO PHASE IT OUT.

Think about it. It took them over a year to provide tethering support for the Z9 then they dropped it without notice and now it is working again. But it is so slow and glitchy that it is not useful on set and under pressure, thus forcing commercial photographers to use Phase One.

Adobe is not delaying its tethering to most high-end cameras for a reason. They want to phase it out. I believe they don't find commercial photographers as profitable as they would like, so they limit the support they give tethering. That is the only motive I can think of. Not enough profit.

That said, I would pay a higher price if they could make their tethering function for Lightroom work like Phase One Software.

Of note, Adobe has been disabling tethering for several cameras and the reason there is no date for tethering updates is that photographers are no longer the bread and butter to Adobe they once were. Consider that two years after Nikon came out with the Z9 Adobe still does not provide tethering for the camera.

Given the size of Adobe, one has to presume that they are doing this on purpose but the reasons are not in their interest to talk about.
