The file could not be found

It seems that Lightroom 5.7 running on a new Imac can not find my images drive. All the files show in the library, but the notice "the file could not be found" appears on all the images in Develop mode. All folders have a ?. When I choose "find missing folder and choose it, the same notice "the file can not be found" appears again in Develop mode. When choosing to import the folders in the drive, or the drive itself I am notified that those files already exist in the catalogue.

Any advice?

All files missing. Turns out the drive letter for the external hard drive that was in the LR catalog was "D". I had plugged in an additional USB device first so that became the "D" drive. When I plugged in my external drive containing all my files it was assigned "E". Once I changed the drive assignment in Windows, all files were found. Is there an easier way in LR to change the drive letter ion the catalog?

How to find missing photos seemed to have an answer. I have to find and choose the missing folders independently, and it places them in a new volume of the same name, but all my work seems to come along so far...This likely happened due to a migration to a new computer. Thanks again
