The resolution Settings are not valid when exporting jpeg images from lightroom classic

When I export images in jpeg format, no matter what resolution I set, the final exported image resolution is always 96dpi. However, when exporting images in png format, the resolution Settings are consistent with the actual exported results.

When you export a file from LrC, and specify the dimensions in pixels (or don't resize at all), the PPI (not DPI) number you set in LrC is completely and totally meaningless. Don't even bother looking at it.

If you export with the dimensions specified in inches or centimeters, then the resolution PPI does indeed have meaning, and it should be whatever PPI you set in LrC.

PS: DPI is not PPI, the two are different, and one does not necessarily correlate with the other. Do not confuse the two or use DPI and PPI interchangeably.

Yes, it's ppi, not dpi. I made a mistake. I now need to export a 300ppi jpg image, but it is always exporting 96ppi.

How do you check the ppi value? This is a frequently asked question and in 99.9% of all case the answer is that there is nothing wrong with how Lightroom exports images, but that Windows often shows the wrong info. This is possibly because ppi is basically meaningless, so the value is simply not read from the metadata but always displayed as 96 ppi. Open the image in an app like Photoshop and you will see it is 300 ppi.
