There are original and edited files in the Catalogus. How to fix this.

Hello. I renamed three folders in the Finder (Apple) outside of LR and rearranged their order. Stupid, because LR didn't recognize the folders and I couldn't link them. The Originals folder in LR now contained edited photos. This morning, after much online research, I synchronized the folders. Great, all the folders have been transferred, with the correct contents, but at the top of the menu in the Catalog, the original files are now listed, as well as the edited ones. Normally, the original photos are always there, and when I click on them and go to Develop, I see the photo along with what has been changed and developed. If I delete the edited version from LR, it also disappears from the Edited Photos folder. How can I remove the edited photos from the catalog without them also disappearing from the Edited Photos folder? Thanks for reading my question.

This was the wrong choice. The proper instructions are here: https://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm

Yes, that 's what happens when you delete a photo from LrC. If you still have some of the edited photos in the catalog, you can re-connect them in LrC via the instructions above. Otherwise, you would have to use a recent backup of your catalog file, you can use that to obtain the edits. If you don't have a recent backup then I don't think there is a solution.

Thank you so much for your help. I hope I did explain the problem/question clear enough. The folders (map) and subfolders are fine. All the files are in there and corresponding with the folders in Finder. But the difference is, that in the Catalogue, there are CR and Tiff files. For example, I edited an image (CR) and when finished I exported it as a Tiff to the map Edited Images in Finder. After synchronizing the TiFF is in the folder in Finder, in the subfolder Edited Images in Lightroom (as I want it) but in the Catalogue there are two files. The CR file and the Tiff File. Both are the same, the edited images. I cannot delete one, because then they are both gone. So, is this all right, what happens after synchronizing and can I just leave those second (TIFF) files together with the CR files in the Catalogue? Thanks.

This is difficult to visualize, and it would be very helpful if you could provide one or more screen captures so we can see all of the things you are referring to. To include screen captures in your reply, click on the "Insert Photos" icon.

First of all, thank you so much for your time. I will try to explain how I organize my photos. In Finder I've got three folders. First one is called "Unedited photos", second is "Edited photos" and the third one is called "Original files". When I import a photo it goes into the folder "Unedited photos". When I have processed the photo I export it into the folder "Edited photo" and the photo is also moved from the folder "Unedited photos" to the folder "Original files". That's all done in Finder. Then I re-connect the file in LR again so the photo/file can be found again. Yesterday I renamed the folders in Finder and I shuffled the position of the folders, still in Finder, and then, of course, LR didn't cope with it. My mistake. In LR I've got the same folders. You can see it in the first attachment. Mappen=Folders, 1. Onbewerkte foto's = Unedited photos, 2.=Edited photos and 3. Originelen= Original files. Before yesterday, I didn't bother about the folders, I never used them in LR, I used the Catalogue map, above in the menu. I always saw just one image of the photo. Now, when I did the synchronizing, the folders are exactly the same as in Finder, with the same correct content, but now the catalogue shows two files. The first one is the CR file (and edited) and the second one is the exported file, the Tiff. You can see this in attachment 2. In attachment 3 you can see the CR file (marked with 5 stars) in the 3 folder Originals in the subfolder Rodel Estate and in the fourth attachment you can see the second image, the Tiff file in the folder "Bewerkte foto's"= Edited photos. So my question is ..... Would you delete the folder Bewerkte foto's=Edited photos in LR totally, so that there is just one photo in the Catalogue (the CR) and in the folder Original (and still in Finder on the hard drive, but not connected to LR of course) or is it better just to accept the two images in the Catalogue and leave it as it is now. Wow, I used a lot of words, but hopefully the issue is clear for you. Thanks again for your time. It's very kind of you.
