in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

It depends on which version of Lightroom you are using. Your post was moved to the 'Lightroom ecosystem' forum, but it sounds like that may still be the wrong forum. If you really use Lightroom, then there is no need to retrieve anything from a Time Machine backup. Your presets are all in the cloud, so logging into your account on your new computer is all you need to do.

If you use Lightroom Classic however (and it does sound that way), then your presets are stored locally and can indeed be restored on the new computer from a Time Machine backup of the old one. Here's the location of them: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/lightroom-classic-file-locations/

Hi Johan,

Thank you for your resonse and excuse all those typos. I was super tired and frustrated when i wrote that post. Anyway, I'm running the newest version of LRC as i just downloaded oit off the adobes site. I really wanted to do a clean install to my new MB pro max. My last mac had 600 gigs of god knows what. Anyway i have been searching like crazy in my time machine backup for all those presets i used in LR.

Some i bought but a lot I created. I can't figure it out. With my old computer, (2017 MBP)  I had a pretty much new version of LRC as well, I was able to find the stored folder thu LR preferences when I needed to add new presets i bought. Thanks for any guidance. And that LR queen site was not helpful in this situation. .  Thanks so much!  Leo

So did you find those presets in your TM backup or didn't you?

It should be simple. Open the Time Machine disk in the Finder. Keep expanding the latest backup using the path given in the linked pages (they are useful) till you get to the .../Camera Raw/Settings folder (it didn't fit in my screenshot). That is where you backed up presets are. Copy them to the same folder on your new computer.
