Unable to access items on hard drive

Hello all,

 

My Lightroom Classic (version 13.0.2) has been plagued with a couple of issues since a week ago. Not only did it experience a significant drop in performance (lagging and becoming unresponsive most of the time), it is also unable to process the following only from my external HDD: exporting photos, opening a catalog. However these issues does not occur on Adobe Lightroom (non-classic).

 

I went through some optimization articles and despite doing these procedures, the issues still persist on my LrC:

- Reinstalling and rolling back LrC versions

- Utilising the build-in graphics processor in: Edit > Preferances > Performance

- Adjusting the camera raw cache to 50GB in the same directory

- Whitelisting the app on the anti-virus software

 

My computer specs are as stated:

OS: Windows 11, version 10.0.22631

Processor: i5-12450H processor

GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 6GB

24GB RAM

 

I would require some assistance please. Cheers.

    What do you have done on utilising the build-in GPU?  Normally it's the best to deactivate this GPU

     

    Do you have done a clean reinstallation? 

    If no then, please follow the steps below:

     

    if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here,  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

    Thank you for the steps, I followed what you have advised. It seems that the external HDD issue has been rectified, however the performance deficit is still present.

      You've wrote that you have trying several steps to solvee your issue. But you don't said nothing about resetting the preferences to the defualt settings. I you don't have done this, try to reset the preferences to the default settings doing te following steps:

      • Close Lightroom.
      • Windows: Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
        Mac: Hold down [Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
      • Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
      • Close Lightroom.
      • Restart Lightroom.

       

      It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

      Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

      Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the complette info into your next forum post.
