Unable to EXPORT: An internal error has occurred: ?:0: attempt to index a nil value

Help! I've run into this error message, which seems similar to other people's issue when deleting an image from the catalog, however in my case the error is occurring when I try to export.  I have already disabled all plug-ins and restarted Lightroom (also, I was never running any of the plug-ins mentioned on other threads as causing issues).  Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?!  I need to be able to export right now.

Thanks!
Hilary

So, not sure what the issue is, but some of the common steps taken to fix LR

1) Cold reboot PC (I will assume this has occured)

2) Check for updates to Lightroom (done)

3) Check OS for updates (carefull, some updates migh hose things up) (done, opps Mojave hoses things up)

4) Check your GPU driver for updates (Windows OS, I doubt if MAC OS would allow this to not be the latest)

5) In Lightroom Preferences turn off using the GPU, see what happens

6) Reset (aka restore) the Preferences file. (carefully review these links)

Replacing the Lightroom Preference File – Lightroomers

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bARt-hoCc2Q  (Got buggy from their)

Preference file and other file locations | Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom 6

Recover catalog and images after resetting preferences in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

7) Disable Plug-ins (one at a time) (in your case, all)

8) Windows OS should use DirectX not OpenGL, MAC OS should use Metal

9) Rule out a corupt catalog, make a new catalog and see if issues go away

10) Try a clean user account. Make a new user account on your PC and try it.

Some, well all of that (and more) can be found at: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/standard-lightroom-troubleshooting-steps/

Also, a summary of the system info, with remarks

Lightroom Classic version: 8.1 [ 1200465 ].........Ok

License: Creative Cloud............................Ok

Language setting: en-US............................Ok (some users have issues in other languages, rare)

Operating system: Mac OS 10........................no comment

Version: 10.14.2 [18C54]...........................Latest macOS Mojave, coould have been issue if LR was earlier version

Application architecture: x64......................Would be very very odd and unbelivable if otherwise

Logical processor count: 8

Processor speed: 4.0 GHz...........................Great

Built-in memory: 32,768.0 MB.......................Great

Real memory available to Lightroom: 32,768.0 MB

Real memory used by Lightroom: 4,841.7 MB (14.7%)

Virtual memory used by Lightroom: 6,066.5 MB

Memory cache size: 535.2MB

Internal Camera Raw version: 11.1 [ 112 ]..........As expected

Maximum thread count used by Camera Raw: 5

Camera Raw SIMD optimization: SSE2,AVX,AVX2

Camera Raw virtual memory: 1210MB / 16383MB (7%)

Camera Raw real memory: 1223MB / 32768MB (3%)

Displays: 1) 5120x2880............................Alarm Bells(only one listed, so probably integral monitor, unless its a MAC Pro)

Graphics Processor Info:

Metal: AMD Radeon R9 M295X........................Metal, approriate for MAC OS

                                                  (Windows should be DirectX)

                                                  (and from this,iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014?

Not sure about your current problem, but the system information shows one glarng issue:

Displays: 1) 5120x2880

I have no idea what model of MAC you are on, or if this is an integral or external display

Lightroom does not behave well at high resolution, defiantly not at 5K,

Extremly slow at 5K to the point of useless

Very Slow at 4K

Slow at 3K for some actions

Fine at 2K

Now if the monitor is integral to the MAC, like on a MAC Book, or a iMAC, then you are stuck with display scaleability, and not actual Resolution adjustment

Naturaly if it is an external monitor, you can adjust the monitors resolution, and I think how the MAC OS interacts with it

Note that the issue is basically creation of previews. Previews CACHE (.lrdata) in Library, and preview images (Camera RAW CACHE) in Develop. Library can be improved by decreasing standard previews size in preferences, Develop by not running LR full screen.

might have gotten some of that wrong or just explained poorly

Followup, from your GPU info, I take it this is a  iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014

Thanks for all of that David!  Yes, it's being run on an iMac 27" Retina.

In terms of the original issue, I think I may have resolved it!  I went to do a batch Save Metadata to File, and in that process I got an error message for one file.  I deleted that file from the catalog, and low and behold, the batch export worked!  What's weird though is that it wasn't as though that file's path was incorrect, and the export error message wasn't something along the lines of "unable to locate or export this one file..."

Hopefully it was just something weird, and won't happen, but I'll post if it occurs again.

Thanks!

Hilary

Please be so kind as to accomplish the following

In LR click on Help, clcik on System Information, Click on Copy. Paste the results in your reply.

Include the lines from top first line down to just after the plug-ins section (yes I know).
