Unable to export from Lightroom Classic CC

Hey there, I just recently - after using Lr for the last four years - ran into a problem with exporting. I'm running on windows 10 right now, and whenever I select the photos I would like to export and then click export, the dialogue does not appear, and I cannot interact with any of Lr. I have tried closing and restarting the app, but neither work and it stays open. It seems to go into some sort of freeze, and the only way to get it to close down is to restart my pc. I have noticed when I click export, the editing page acts like it has the export dialogue running in front of it, and gives me the classic ding that happens when you click on something that cannot be interacted with. Any help would be wonderful as I would love to be able to export ASAP, thanks!

So, looking at the possibility that your LR thinks you have 2 displays. Launched my MAC Book. Brought up Lightroom Classic CC v8.1. Looked at the System Information.

When it is just the laptop display, I see only one value. Displays: 1) 1440x900

When I attach the external monitor and look at system information, i see two values listedDisplays: 1) 2048x1152, 2) 1440x900

Now this is a true dua desktop situation it might differ from a split screen situation.

If I drag the expot dialog to the other screen, I can do nothing on the main screen, trying just gives me beeps. On the other screen, the dialog works just fine. Next time I export, the dialog appears on the main menu. so, appartently not your issue.

DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (25.21.14.1701)

Not the cause of your issue, but that driver was issued 11/15/2018, a bit long in the tooth.

1. Is your rig a Laptop or a workstation?

1b. If it is a laptop, are you connecting to an external monitor?

2. In you System Information this is listed:

    Displays: 1) 2560x1440, 2) 3840x2160

Ok, the two entry's for display in your system information. To me that means LR thinks you have two displays.

3. Now if that is the case (is that what you showed in that wide screenshot?), then you should be able to drag the errant dialog from one screen to the other.

4. If this is not a laptop, or it is but is not connected to an external monitor, or if this is a workstation with just the one monitor. Then are you running some sort of split screen, or virtual two monitor situation?

Should have noticed. A workstation GPU, not one typically in a laptop. Check your NVIDIA properties for some sort of dual (virtual) display situation going on. And any software from the vendor of your particular GPU.

/EDIT/ After launching my MAC Book (dual display setup) and experimenting, turns out the following is just rubbish

And in this screenshot I have pointed out the dual display icons. If you are not running two displays, the second icon does not do much, Well some odd window pops up. If you are running dual display, then perhaps that missing screen pops up.

Incidentally, their are at least four go to actions/solutions for shall we say “buggy” Lightroom behavior.

1) Restart your computer, and this should be a cold boot (turn it off, turn it on)

2) Check your GPU driver for updates

3) In Lightroom Preferences turn off using the GPU

( for those last two, even if LightRoom used to work, software updates, OS uodates, etc can cause new issues)

And

4) Reset (aka restore) the Prefefences file. Read/watch all four links before attempting, if you do so.

    Oh, and a screen shot of what/where you are trying to export from, make sure folders panel  (with foldervthat image is in visible) is shown as well as filmstrip and grid (if in library)

    Strangely enough, when I was taking screenshots of the process I found that it captured two desktops, one with Lr and another with the export menu... I do not have two desktops running or on, just this one. Any Ideas on why the export menu is appearing, but not on my screen? Thanks!

    First things first, to help your fellow forum members.

    In Lightroom, click on help, click on System Information, click on copy. Paste results in reply. This will nail down in a provable fashion, Lightroom version, Creative Cloud license status (as in not unknown) OS version, Display resolution, GPU driver version, Plug-ins enabled. And I forget what.

    The stuff after the Plug-ins, not so important. so don’t include that for simplicity.
