The album is created in facebook, but I am unable to publish any photos to it. Publishing to already existing albums works just fine. This is lightroom 4.4 on windows 7.

This may be a U2U forum but the same thundering silence on this issue can be found on the forum at photoshop.com which is "Supported by 29,208 customers like you, as well as the Photoshop Family team."

Same issue here - Just upgraded to 4.4 and initially had the CryptUnprotectData Error using Facebook Plugin. Managed to resolved this via editing the preferences file, but now cannot select an album. New Albums are created in Facebook when I hit the "create new Album" button in Lightroom, but I still can't select and album or save changes to my setup.
I have tried removing the Lightroom app from my Facebook, and re-authorising,which all seems to go OK, but still no luck on selecting an album to be able to upload any images.
I have also added a +1 to the link as given above

Having the same issue now! It was working perfectly well a few days ago and then suddenly got the error. FRUSTRATING.

Well my bug report has been answered by Adobe!!!
Yep, definitely seeing this problem on our side as well. I'm noticing some major changes on the Facebook side of things, a very different authorization screen (I only see this screen when working with LR5, older versions just load up the Facebook news feed). Since there have been no changes to Lightroom 4 (since the 4.4 update. I also tested with LR3 and see the same behavior) we can be sure the issue is on the Facebook side of things. This means we are going to need to get their current SDK's, update our plug-in, test, and release. Not sure how long all of this will take.
In reality, FB has made an API change that the adobe plugin can not handle. However JF's plugin still works, but his plugins are updated regularly! Looks like we have to sit back and wait and hope they update the plugins in V3,4 & 5 and not just LR5 now that it has been released!

For those getting frustrated by this, check out Jeffrey Friedl's Facebook plugin - it is working fine: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/facebook

Just re-tried this in Lightroom 4.4 with the standard Adobe Plugin and all worked as expected. I assume there has been a chnage on the Facebook side as I have applied no update to Lightroom.

Funny, when I try to reload the Plug-in, I get to the point of "Authorizing" and get a message from Facebook informing me that "Something went wrong. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can."

@RonBoyd,
Try remove the Lightroom app from Facebook, then go through the full app authorisation again. I know you have probably done this previously, but its the only thing I can think of.
BTW, I did NOT do this today (although did try a week ago). It simply started working today with no additional work from me.

Just tried myself. Worked for me too. Had to unauthorize the connection from within Lightroom and reauthorize it. But working fine after that. No updates applied to Lightroom. So has to be something that Facebook seems to have fixed on their end I guess

How does one "unauthorize" within Facebook?

In Facebook, click Settings (star in top right), then Acount Setting. In the left menu, click apps, them in the middle "more apps" if you don't see Adobe Photoshop lightroom. Click edit (next to app), then in the section that opens at the bottom, click remove.
In Lightroom, double click on the Facebook Published Service, then in the Windows that opens, you can click "Remove Authorisation". Repeat but then click "Authorise"

Swim70, That did it! Thank you. BTW, I had two Lightroom Apps in Facebook -- I found the 2nd one after removing the first one didn't fix my problem. I should have clicked on "More Apps" before charging ahead.

Still having the same problem today. It creates the album when you create the collection but then responds that no album is associated with a collection. I just reported it to Facebook and on the Photoshop forum using the following links if anyone else is still having this issue with LR5 on a MBPr running OS X 10.8...

And, a repost of the feedback.photoshop.com forum which said the plug-in was working properly (but isn't in my case)
