Question

Uninstall, reinstall Lightroom - will I loose anything?

A while ago I followed instructions to change the Lightroom splash screen. (https://petapixel.com/2014/12/03/neat-trick-customize-lightroom-5-splash-screen-image-less-minute/). Now I want the LR splash screen back. I have deleted the folder that held my photo that became the splash screen but it still comes up. I've had to turn off the splash screen in Preferences.
My question - if I uninstall LR then reinstall LR (which I hope will fix everything) - will I loose all my presets etc. I expect I will loose some preferences, but I'm prepared to start again. I also expect that I will NOT loose my photos.

(This is not a Classic CC vs CC related issue.)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You won't lose presets, but it's probably wise to have backups anyway, so go to Preferences>Presets>Show Lightroom Presets Folder. Make a zipped copy of the Lightroom folder.

To clear the splash screen you should only need to delete your preferences. Hold Shift and Alt/Option when starting Lightroom to get a reset dialog.

Thanks Sean. I've done the Shift+Option and the Shift+Option+Delete when opening. I just uninstalled and reinstalled.
I still get the yucky splash screen that I created.

The splash screen is probably deeper hidden in the prefs. Create a new one to see if that one replaces the old one.

You could try starting Lr from a different user, if you want experimenting.
