Hi everyone, I am trying to open my old catalog from the original Lightroom 6 in Lightroom Classic but it doesn't let me.

When I do it comes up with this

The Lightroom catalog named "Lightroom 1Catalog" cannot be opened because another application already has it opened.

I do not have it open in any other app to my knowledge

Any help would be very much appreciated thanks.

Check the folder that contains your Lightroom 6 Catalog and if there is a file that has the same name as the Catalog with the extension .lrcat.lock (LRCAT.LOCK).

Delete the .LOCK file then you can double-click on the Catalog 6 file that ends with the extension .lrcat (LRCAT) and that should open the Catalog and prompt for you to agree to upgrade. A copy of the original Catalog will be converted to the upgraded version of Lightroom Classic.
