Question

Upgrading MacOS and Lightroom Classic Versions

I have been extremely hesitant about upgrading my current MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.6.  This is due to not being able to use Lightroom Classic when I did a MacOS version upgrade a few years ago.  When this happened, I uninstalled the upgraded MacOS version and went back to MacOS Mojave.  Since then, my current Lightroom Classic 10.4 Release has worked perfectly.  I would like to upgrade my MacOS to the latest Version, but I’m concerned its not going to operate Lightroom Classic correctly.  Could you please offer some advice on which MacOS Version would work with Lightroom Classic Version 12.5?  I believe Version 12.5 is the latest version.

The full details on my MacBook Pro 15” (2018) are as follows:
  • MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.6
  • Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
  • Memory 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
  • Startup Disk Macintosh HD
  • Graphics Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

Given your past experience, I think creating a bootable external drive for Ventura, then installing LrC 12.5 is a safer option for you than taking others folks word for it and risk messing up your current install. Details of how to create a bootable macOS drive can be found at below link. If all goes well and you are satisfied with performance, then upgrading your internal drive or cloning the external to the internal should be relatively easy.
