Question

Upload from LR Classic from Book mode to Blurb failing

I have not had a problem uploading previously. This is my first book with LR Classic.

I don't have a firewall and I am connected with a cable to internet, not wifi. These were Blurb's only suggestions.

The upload progresses with rendering all pages and then lags and eventually I get a fail message.

Blurb suggested sending a pdf through their website upload, but this created blank pages on the page templates that have old-school black borders, so I would like to pursue sending directly through LR, since those page layouts have worked with previous books.

Thank you for any suggestions,

Suzanne

Which version of Lightroom Classic are you using?

What is the size of the book? What does the error message say? What are your output settings? Are there any exclamation points on any of the images? Are you working with Smart Previews? There may be a problem with one page or one image that is causing a problem.

Blurb's recommendation to generate a pdf is to eliminate Lightroom from the problem. If you can make a pdf the the book module is working. If pages are blank there may be an issue with images missing. When you choose to output to a pdf you'll get status information during the process by clicking on the activity bar.

Details on the error message might be helpful as well as answers to the  other questions.

I am wondering if this has to do with updating to LR Classic since my previous orders with Blurb were from LR5. I have read on a previous blog that people resolved similar problems by deleting the preference file in LR, although I am nervous to try this.

Perhaps before you redo many hours of work, save a second version of the book and change the template to test it. Use the Export as a pdf button in the left column. If it works great - if it doesn't work you may want to export your collection as a catalog and then import it in Lr 5. It's not clear where the problem lies at this point.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will save a version before changing.

Interestingly, when I export the pfd it does show those photos, and they showed up on the Blurb book preview. I purchased the pdf from blurb with the book and they are missing there.

It does seem like the connection to Blurb may be caused by the change to LR classic conflicting with the information saved by Blurb.

Thanks, Suzanne
