Question

Upright Mode on multiple photos (Sync not working) Update + Analyse 1by1

Hello,

I've been searching for this issue since almost 2 years... Still no answers.

Here is my setup :

Lightroom Classic 7.0

i5 4cores

32Gb

512 Go SSD

AMD HD7970 3Go

Sony A7R

Here are the step I always do while developing photos :

Create Catalog

Import multiple photos

Create 1:1 previews or Embedded and Sidecar (since I've hear it's faster to work with) while Importing

I have a preset while importing : With Lens Profile / Chromatic correction / DeHaze / Contrast etc... AND UPRIGHT SET TO "LEVEL"

MY PRESET is set to UPRIGHT MODE ONLY

Then In Develop module, I check all the pictures and they all have LEVEL set, but the UPDATE button is active and I need to press it for every photo I open so it Re-Analyse it and do the right Upright.

I thought the new Lightroom would fix that issue.

Most answers of the UpRight transform says that the problem should be resolved by setting Upright Mode onle (not Upright Transform and Transform adjustements).

But still there is an issue here that I can't understand. It's bothering photographers since 5 years. (Checked on this forum) and no fix...

Did you read that somewhere? Can you provide a link? Nothing I see about the changes in Lightroom Classic CC indicates anything about changes to Upright.

I tried the Upright Mode only - the issue remains

Still sad but nothing is working here ... I might need to format all my drive but it doesn't really make me feel happy.

I just retested this on my LR 7 / MacOS and it appears to be working for me.  I created a preset with these settings, saving Transform > Level:

When I apply this preset in Library to a couple hundred photos using the Quick Develop > Saved Preset menu, they all get Level set, with the actual amount of leveling computed separately for each photo. When I check each of them in the Transform panel in Develop, the Level button is selected and the Update button is greyed out:

To troubleshoot your situation, in Develop, please go to the Presets panel, right-click the preset and do Show In Finder / Windows Explorer, and double-click the file "preset.lrtemplate". This opens the preset in a text editor -- select all the text and copy/paste it here.

Here is the copy paste of my present. And yes I am doing a transform mode only on my preset.

The preset you posted also works as expected in my LR: When I applied it to a couple hundred photos using the Quick Develop > Saved Preset menu, they all get Level set, with the actual amount of leveling computed separately for each photo. When I check each of them in the Transform panel in Develop, the Level button is selected and the Update button is greyed out.

But your screenshot shows the Sync Settings command being used, which isn't exactly the same thing. I also tested Sync Settings the same way, and it behaved as expected.

In these tests, it did take LR a long time to update the thumbnails (perhaps several per second). But they all seemed to get updated eventually.  Even when I selected a photo whose thumbnail hadn't been updated yet and went into Develop, the settings in the Transform panel were correct.

So there may be something specific about your photos, catalog, or installation triggering this issue. My only suggestion is to post a bug report to the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom Classic CC | Photoshop Family Customer Community . If you include a full-resolution screen recording (not a snapshot), e.g. made with QuickTime Player on Mac and uploaded to Dropbox or similar, of the entire process of syncing and examining a photo for the wrong results, that would most effectively demonstrate to Adobe what the issue is. (Posting videos to Youtube is not great, since it reduces the resolution and makes it hard to see details.)
