If you have this problem and you are still on macOS 11 Big Sur, can you please try the macOS 11.6.5 update that came out this week?

On my Mac, 11.6.5 finally loads the profiles that would not load under macOS 11.6.2 through 11.6.4. But it would be good to confirm that it works for everybody else too.

I’m backing up now, will install 11.6.5 to night

I’ll let you know the results...

Sound like good news though!

This issue forced my upgrade to Monterey, which solved the problem. I would have waited several months longer, but it is fine, and I'm glad to have color management in printing working again in Lightroom.

For my work, macOS Monterey 12.2 is stable and runs well, at least on an M1 Pro. Monterey is not as disruptive a change as other recent macOS major versions. If all your important applications run well on macOS 11 Big Sur, they should be fine in macOS 12.

I usually wait a lot longer (many months) before upgrading to the latest macOS, but buying an M1 Pro forced the issue because those won’t run anything older than macOS 12.

The only problem I am still having in macOS 12, that others have also reported, is that macOS does not connect reliably to some USB external storage enclosures. Most of mine work fine, except one. Also, apparently some memory leak bugs are still there.

Does anyone know if this issue is fixed in MacOs 11.6.3 that was released a couple days ago?

Big Sur 11.6.5 FIXES Colorsynsc and ICC Profile issues (in Lightroom CC)
Finally

I'm experiencing the same problem (Lightroom CC 11.1, Big Sur 11.6.2) but only with paper ICC profiles Specification 4.x That concerns ICC profiles distributed by Canson (spec 4.3) and Ilford.

but the profiles from Hahnemuhle (Specification 2.4 ) and from Lumiere (specification 2.2) are still recognized.

These v4 ICC profiles are not listed either by Apple ColorSync Utility

but... they are listed/recognized with Photoshop 23.1.1 which I guess does not use the OS in the same way.

Because everything worked fine with Big Sur 11.6.1 I suppose this is an OS trouble.

Yes, it's an OS bug. Downgrade a version or upgrade to 12.X which fixed the bug.

Yeah, this has wasted maybe 5 or 6 hours of my time. Web-searching about this problem without including Big Sur in the search term can lead down many rabbit holes. I hadn't planned to update to Monterey quite this soon. But it's bad to have to do it next time I really need to print something and then might have to upgrade the OS as part of that printing project. Most of my paper/printing is on Canson papers, which I have a big stock of and deep familiarity with -- and those are the .icc paper profiles Lightroom will no longer see. Photoshop can see them, but I hate printing with PS compared to LR, which is my usual print workflow. Next printing project is with Epson paper, but after that it will likely be Canson.

Or maybe I can figure out how to convert the Canson ICC profiles to V2 as suggested by the post above.

Probably not, not unless the measurement data is embedded in that profile and you have a tool to do so.

Hmmm...if so, the next question is, why are profiles working OK in the latest macOS 12.1 Monterey update? The Apple security article for the macOS 12.1 update also lists the same CVE fix, yet profiles are working (for me at least).

Well that answers that

Works in Monterey, but I can't update due to the age of my Mac (late 2014)

Bottom line Does NOT work in Big Sur 11.6.2

Let me tell how annoying that is!

This might be a real problem. I wrote one of the solutions in the other thread, but that solution is currently not working on a Mac specifically running macOS 11 Big Sur, like you said. A Mac on macOS 12 Monterey is showing profiles properly.

The printer profiles are also not shown in Apple ColorSync Utility in Big Sur, so it might be a macOS 11 problem.
