V6.0 Crashes on Opening

I use Lightroom V6.0 and have done for a few years and never had a problem, I use Windows 11 up to date. I updated Adobe Creative cloud this morning and now Lightroom tries to open and crashes immediately.  I have over a 1000 photos I need to edit quickly, any help appreciated.  I'm not particularly technically minded either.  Thanks

Do you mean the Creative Cloud Desktop app? It is only needed if you have a subscription.

Are you getting any error messages?

You shouldn't have to update the Creative Cloud at all, since Lr 6 is not part of the Creative Cloud. Unless you have other Adobe software that does use the Creative Cloud, I would uninstall the Creative Cloud, and then re-install Lr 6 using the "offline activation"method here.

Hi,

Sory I have been at work for 13 hours today, I haven't got round to doing anything yet, I tried as only had 5 mins to have a quick go. Adobe creative cloud won't let me uninstall it, so I switched off the connection to the internet and launched LR6.0 and it started OK. I edited a couple of photos and exported them fine. Re-connected to the internet and LR immediately crashed and shut down so I'm completely lost with what's causing the issue.

Regards  Graham

As @dj_paige wrote you should deinstall Lightroom 6 and the Creative Cloud Client. Then use the Adobe Cleaner Tool to clean your computer from remainig cc files and restart your PC after the tool has been finished.

Download the latest version of lightroom 6 by using the link I posted in my formaer post and do the installation and offline activation as @dj_paige mentioned.

Do you mean the perpetual license of Lightroom 6 or do you use Lightroom 6 from a subscription?

Please post the detailed error message word-by-word.

If you're using the perpetual license try the folloeing steps:

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

Another possible reason for crashing can be a faulty catalog.

Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog.

First select the appropriate recent catalog and let it check it – note the checkmark "Test integrity of this catalog" to check its integrity. If that doesn't help, try to create a new one and see if this catalog works. If yes, you could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.

To be honest I'm a bit lost with it.  I bought Lightroom download from Amazon UK some years ago and never had any problems,I bought it outright at the start as it was soon going to Subscription.

It's a perpetual licence and I've uninstalled Lightroom 6 and uninstalled it and installed it again and still the same result, not opening still. Done all of the above that you've said and still the same.
