weeks ago I could edit video in loupe view. Now the control bar is absent. I can scrub the video in grid view. I have used this function for years. Also when I start LRC it says not responding for About 2 min. when I click on any thing.
I have tried Reinstalling an older Ver. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Ver. 12.4, Today I updated to Ver. 12.5. ALL these result in the same behavior, nothing helps.
I have also kept windows 10 updated
I really want to capture some frames for a Blurb book I am working on.
Please help!

Please upload a screen shot of your library module showing a video in loupe view. Are you working with the original file? Have you restarted Lightroom Classic and also your computer? This control will not show if the original file is missing.

Thanks for responding cmgap.
I have no missing file warning and I am in the folder not in a collection. As stated in my original post I have tried diff. versions restarting often and updating Windows 10 often.
I have been using this control bar since these files were uploaded to capture frames but recently it has dissapeared. coincident with this problem every time I launch LR I get a (not responding) and screen lock that lasts ~ 2 min. after that clears, everything except video control functions normally. I can also view the .mp4 file in the windows system.
I could probably capture frames in Premier but LR has worked so well in the past and was convenient.
Thanks, Dave

Since my last post today I have tried to import 3 new .mp4 files and can't get them to import.
This may be related to my previous post. This has never happend before in all the years i've been using LR.
Just a thought, my google storage is full and I keep getting asked to upgrade capacity. I don't use cloud storage on purpose but all pictures go there anyway. Could this cause my trouble?
Any imput or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave - do you have enough room on your local drive to do this test... copy a video file onto your desktop and try to import it from there. If you're receiving messages that you do not have enough storage that could be part of the problem. If you have an external drive that will also work for this test. Where are the video files coming from? A phone, dslr, camcorder?

Dave - I could not replicate any condition that would make the control bar go away. Is this happening with any and all videos or just new videos?

Hi, cmgap,
Thanks for responding!
I have plenty of room for the test. My desktop has several videos available. I attempted to Import from the desktop and all video files display the same messages as my last screen shots i.e. preview not avail. for this file & some import functions not completed. so I can no longer import Video into
LR. Local memory dosen't seem to be a problem. However I'm going to one.google and clearing up some space just to see what happens.
I suspect something is going wrong during the ~2 min. delay the (not responding) when I boot up LR that I referenced in my first post. This prob. has persisted even when I went back to an older version & also in Vers 12.4 &12.5 So maybe its a Windows 10 to LR incompatibility problem.
Thanks for helping,
Dave
p.s. Could you forward my posts to the appropriate Adobe tech person?

If you want to start a chat with Adobe go to your avatar at the top right of the window and tap the help link. We are peer-to-peer volunteers helping in the forum.
In addition to cleaning up one.google try importing a different video type i.e. .mov to see if that changes anything. Sort your catalog on video and then check to see if all of the videos are behaving the same and note what the file types are.

Hi cmgap
I cleaned out one.google. Didn't fix prob.
I sorted my my entire folder of 44,340 images for:
.mov of 227 files, 12 have previews of which will view in loupe but no control bar
.mp4 of 918 files, of which ~320 are unreadable. The rest I spot checked which have previews in loupe but no control bar.
I checked Quicktime Ver.= 7.79.80.95 according to a system check. I think it is up to date.
I LR I have Process ver. 5
I also tried turning off GPU (NVIDIA Ge Force GTX 1080 Ti with 11 GB memory) No fix.
I checked preferences for GPU and has always been set to auto So I changed it to custom and found auto was setting it to: use GPU for export. SO I checked the box to Use for image process.
The GPU changes did not fix Either the (not responding) delay on boot up OR The control bar visibility.
All my photos are on an external drive so I'm going to try Moving to my other computer
All your suggestions make sense. I'm so glad that you are taking the time to help me
Thanks,
Dave

It's unfortunate that I can't recreate this on my computer. If I did run into this scenario I would first reset preferences and if that didn't work I would create a test catalog and import a couple of different video formats to see if the problem persists in a clean empty catalog.

I just moved my drive to a diff. computer and had no problems No slow boot and Control bar is present and works like normal. The only difference was a diff. graphics card thats not supported with the 12.5 release. Don't know why the test with the graphics card turned off in the other computer didn't work unless it was causing the slow boot up and corrupting something. It looks like it's not an Adobe problem but maybe a hardware (graphics card) incompatibilty. I will still try the steps from your last post. I will let you know what I find out.
Thanks,
Dave

Thank you for testing that and isolating the issue to the computer and not Lightroom Classic. Please do follow up so that it may help anyone that encounters the same issue.

Hi cmgap, It was determined that windows was interfering with Adobe programs. I took the computer to Micro Center and they replaced the C: drive with a larger capacity and wiped Windows and reinstalled. Of course all programs...everything had to be reinstalled..ugh. So LRC problem was fixed.
However I am encountering a different problem with LR. All of my photos are on a 2 TB external drive including the catalog. It used to come up as E: drive but now comes up as F: drive which seems to confuse LR and all the photos are tagged as missing. I'm trying the 'find missing photo' but not having any luck. My drives come up C: D: F: G: & H: (No E:).
LR shows an E: but it is grayed out & I can see all the folders and number of photos in each folder which are all marked with ? marks. Not sure how windows assigns drive letters.
When I exit LR it says the catalog backup is on the missing E: drive. Any ideas?
Any direction you could point me will be appreciated.
Dave

Hi Dave - It's been a bit since I've remapped a drive letter on a windows machine but I found this how-to: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-drive-letter-in-windows-11.8162/
There may be others here that can also point you in the right direction that use Windows. You'll want to remap your (new) F drive to E so that Lightroom Classic recognizes them as they were before the upgrade.
FWIW you may see better performance is you move your catalog on your C drive.
