Virtual copy broken in LRC 12.1

Problem in LRC, 12.1

MacOS Ventura 13.1

MacOS I created a virtual copy through the menu, but all that shows up is solid gray. The virutal image has "Copy 1" appended to the original and otherwise looks like it is trying to create the virutal copy but the image is gray.  I used Creative Cloud to downgrade to 12.0.1 and virtual copy works fine.

(The topic options for the post seem rather limited as I have no reason to believe that this is a Mac only problem, but that's the closest topic.)

Troubleshooting steps to narrow down the problem:

1. Set Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor to Off and make a new virtual copy.  Does that fix the problem?

2. Select a grey virtual copy and go to Loupe view (type E).  Does the Loupe view show the image properly?

3. Select a grey virtual copy and do Library > Previews > Build 1:1 Previews.  Do you see the thumbnail now?

4. Select a grey virtual copy and go to Develop -- do you see the image properly?  Change Exposure and go back to Library -- do you see the thumbnail now?
