Question

What compatibility setting for RAW converter

I am using Lightroom 6.14    (as that was last perpetual licenses version)

I have just reinstalled onto W11 PC, and need to set up 'Adobe DNG Converter'

I can't recall what compatability version to set it to.

DNG Converter takes current camera RAW files and renders generic "DNG" raw files.   It is independent and separate from Lightroom or any other program.  Since you are on a new computer, use the newest DNG converter.   Once converted, your cameras's proprietary format will have a generic DNG copy.   If LR 6.14 runs on your new computer, you should then be able to import the generic DNG copy.

Please note that Lightroom 6.14 is no longer current or supported.  It was created well before Windows 11 and will probably have unresolvable issues.   Old software on a new operating system is a risk you might not want to take.

Maybe I am misunderstanding.... the install of DNG converter advised to select a compatibility mode?

As to LR and not using on a new OS ... the LR6.14 works fine ... it does all I need it to do.

If Adobe still did a perpetual license I would certainly upgrade, but I cannot justify a subscription for some recreational photography

At some point if LR6.14 ceases working, I'll buy a copy of ON1Raw

Hi!

I found this help doc that might shed some light on what you need: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/adobe-dng-converter.html

Let us know if that helps?
