Question

What Version is this? Lightroom Classic 6 Version 7.0

I can't seem to figure out what I have.  I currently have 2 versions of LR on my mac, one says Lightroom Classic 6 Ver 7.0 and the other is Lightroom 6 ver 6.13.  If I check for updates it seems to want to update Classic Ver 7.0 to some 8.3.1 version, which I believe would turn it in to a perpetual license model.

I can't seem to find any info online about Lightroom Classic 6 v. 7.0 - how did I end up with this version and how would I keep it but try out the perpetual lic one?  When I go to update there isn't an option to keep the existing version - at least nothing I'm seeing.

Thanks so much - I've been so confused.  And yes, I've been using it so my catalog was updated, so thanks for the info on how to move the catalog back.  I even had Adobe on chat and they didn't understand what was going on.  The bogus Version 7 keeps trying to update to the subscription version.

Yes, Adobe has been less than helpful with this problem. They never even acknowledged it officially. Don't let that bogus version update itself. If you do decide to go to a Lightroom Classic subscription after all, then uninstall this version, get the subscription and install the correct version from the CC App. You can continue to use your upgraded catalog in that case.

Yes, that is indeed the bogus 'Lightroom 7' version that was created by this buggy installer. If you have used it, it will have upgraded the catalog, so you won't be able to use that upgraded catalog with Lightroom 6.13, which is the correct version.

The solution is to only use Lightroom 6.13, the version you have a license to use. In order not to lose all the work you may have done in "Lightroom 7", run it one more time. Select all the images that were imported after you updated to "Lightroom 7" and choose 'Metadata - Save Metadata to Files'. Then open Lightroom 6.13 and import these images. The edits and metadata should come over, except those edits that are new for Lightroom Classic (like Range Mask).

I suggest that you open that version and go to Help/about Lightroom. If you copied the first 10 lines of the information and post it here so that I can see the exact version of Lightroom that you have then I can advise you further.

That final update for Lightroom 6 was 6.14. There will be no more updates for Lightroom 6, and it was the final perpetual version of Lightroom that will ever be released. Lightroom 7 was actually Lightroom Classic, which is subscription only, and is now at version 8.31.
