Question

Why does Lightroom 5.5 desktop no longer detect my card reader?

Dear LR Community,

Recently my old Lexar card reader died on me so I got a new one. It is plugged into my Mac desktop  High Sierra 10.13.1 and I have never had an issue with importing from my card reader until now.  When I insert the a CF card, the import box used to show up on my LR (5.5 yes I know it's old but it was working just fine). The Lexar card reader blue lights come on so I know it is connecting with the cf card. Now, when I go the Import Photos/Videos Lightroom is not even detecting the card reader as a source.  All the previous preferences have remained the same.  The card I was trying to import from was a San Disk Extreme. No other issues before with any of my cards.

Any suggestions are appreciated!  Thanks!

Does Finder recognize the card reader? Forget about Lightroom, is your operating system recognizing the card reader?

Hi Jim,

No, it is not showing up in the Finder.

All the best and more,

Julien

Then if the operating system isn't finding it, I would say that is an indication that it is not a problem with Lightroom but rather a problem with your operating system. However, since I'm not at all familiar with the Mac, I have nothing more to suggest.
