Why does Lightroom Classic seem to lag in the development of basic functionalities?
Why does Lightroom seem to neglect the development of basic functionalities in Lightroom Classic? It appears there is a lot of hype around buzzwords like machine learning, depth of field filters, etc.,
but essential features for professional users seem scarce.
- The web gallery is stuck in the HTML Stone Age.
- Shared collections lack settings for displaying filenames and other basic information.
- Importing from multiple cards or folders is not very efficient, and there is no checksum verification for files in case of software crashes, network failures, etc. Lightroom had a new import funktions for a short while but that was removed becouse some did't think clear at adobe... many funcations was missing.
- There's no database for multiple workstations, own host, or cloud, causing inconvenience when switching between laptop and desktop.
- Better layer support even if the mask has been much better its still not good compared to C1.
- A good invert (real ) for scanned / photo negatives without the controlls invertert
- A Better Tethered Shooting with good overlay funcationality
There is, of course, more, but these are the things I have been missing for the > 10 years. Each time, I hope Lightroom Classic undergoes a genuine, ground-up makeover. In my opinion, Adobe has allocated resources oddly to Lightroom (non-Classic), as it seems to me that they could integrate the cloud storage/functionality into Classic instead. They could then focus on improving the UX/UI and migrating both,
So I whiches that Adobe spent time on basic funktanlity insteed of show of funktionality like the new Depth Of Field, onelsity how many pro photograpger will ever use this and if so they would probly do it in photoshop isnteed.
My rant as a full time working photograpger that has been useing lightroom since 2008
