Why is Lightroom duplicating jpgs after exporting?

Just recently since the last update after I export the images as jpgs, Lightroom is suddenly duplicating all the images,  so there's two images now of each file within Lightroom but thankfully not where I store my images. Only in Lightroom. If I relaunch the catalog, Lightroom just keeps duplicating- hence an export of 100 becomes 200 and then if I relaunch again Lightroom has 400 images and it just keeps going! UGH. Please make it STOP.

This will happen if you have checked Add to this catalog in the Export dialog.

Unchecking it should fix the problem.

Sharing a screen capture of your export dialog might help.

Another thing to watch out for: Next time you export, check the presets list and see how many are selected. If more than one preset is selected, that means it’s set up to export multiple copies of each image (one copy for each preset that’s selected). In the picture below, three presets are selected, so three copies of the selected images will be exported.

Hi! I don't have any of those things checked. My normal work flow is to just export (and convert to jpgs) to my external HD to the folder that I named with the clients name and date. I don't do anything extra. I've been doing the same export steps for years and just suddenly I've run into this issue.
