(Win) Lightroom Classic AI masks are not being retained

I am having to constantly update my AI masks and they are not exporting to jpeg files. Is this a known issue? Is Adobe fixing it? Is there a work-around? Is anyone else having this problem?

Another misconception is that the mask overlays (that can be Black, White, Color, etc) will remain visible on an exported JPG- Not so.

Only the Adjustments you make with the edit Tools will affect an exported image.

I have seen this issue being reported before. My advice then was to check permissions and locked state of the 'catalogname.lrcat-data' folder, because that is where these masks are stored. If Lightroom does not have permissions to write to this folder, or if the folder is locked, then you will get the issue that masks need to be updated all the time because they are never saved. What you can do as well is simply delete this folder. You will obviously have to update all masks once more, but it allows Lightroom to recreate the folder, this time hopefully without these problems. It worked for that person.

Yes, absolutely! Lightroom needs to be able to write to this folder to store the masks.

After clicking off the "read-only" option and restarting Lightroom, the properties had changed back to "read-only". It seems that Lightroom controls this property.

Hey, @Dennis Minty. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info of Lightroom Classic from Help > System info > Copy & paste here or upload to Creative Cloud files (https://assets.adobe.com/files) and share the link with us.

In the meantime, try these basic troubleshooting steps:

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor > Set it off if it is on Custom or Auto. If this shows you any differences, please check this article to troubleshoot further: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html
Reset Lightroom Classic following the second (manual) method from this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html
Press the ALT/OPT (/Windows/macOS) when launching Lightroom Classic & choose the option to create a new catalog and create a new one on the internal drive.
