I used LRC a few weeks ago with no issues. Today, it won't start up. I see it in Task Manager but never gets far enough for the app to appear on my screen. Need so assistance asap! Many thanks in advance for any and all!

I sometimes have this too, But it will show up just a window, but kinda empty looking, not loading the app fully. I then wait like 5minuts and it will start up completely, next time I open it, it will be fine again, until it happens again for some reason. Perhaps just open it, and wait a LONG time, to see if it will open.

Try a recent backup catalog. If you are having LrC do the backups, you will have to unzip the backup first.

I had a recent experience with LrC just like this one. LrC would attempt to load and stop at the creation of the .lock file but did not load far enough to show up in task manager.

After multiple attempts at starting LrC, I unzipped a recent catalog backup file. That file would let LrC open and run correctly. In my case, I'm assuming the catalog was corrupt but I never got any warning that the catalog had issues.

Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog.

First select the appropriate recent catalog and let it check it – note the checkmark "Test integrity of this catalog" to check its integrity. If that doesn't help, try to create a new one and import several images.See if this catalog works.

If it's worked with a new catalog, it seems your old catalog has a fualt. Try to restore the catalog from the recent backup and check.

"Hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. " did not open the designated dialogue box. Just got the same results, meaning nothing.

Please share a screenshot of what you see in Windows File Explorer in the folder your catalog is in;

If you see Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.lock while this process of opening LrC is still stuck in limbo, that's fine. If this file is there before you try to launch LrC, you should delete it.

There is a lock file present. I delete, start the app and the .lock file reappears - app still does not open.

Hey there,

We're sorry about your experience with the Lightroom Classic issue. We need more details to help you.

Please share the system info of Lightroom Classic from Help > System info > Copy & paste into your reply.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot or a video recording of the screen?

Does this happen when you open specific images or tools or use every image or tool?

Close the Lightroom Classic instance in the task manager, hold down the ALT and SHIFT keys, and click on the Lightroom Classic shortcut. When prompted, click Yes to reset Preferences.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Shivani

I used the key actions above, said 'Yes' to resetting Preferences, but it still does not open
