I LOVED this new update when I saw the new masking features. Now I'm just upset with Lightroom in general because of this needless move. Ive built up too many years of muscle memory to have them just change something for the hell of it.

I am going back to the previous version just for that little button. Interrupted my workflow for the 1,000th time, and now I'm wasting even more of my work time complaining here... please bring the button back.

No one at adobe seems to really care about this thread. I avoided capture one simply because I didn't want to relearn a years-old, muscle-memory ingrained workflow.
I just downloaded Capture One's 30 day trial. If I'm going to learn a new workflow, it might as well be that. Hopefully Adobe listens to us before I get used to capture one.

This is my first time here. I NEED THIS BUTTO BACK. I feel so lost every time done cropping. Yes, i just could hit enter. But WHY would you remove such a button and just leave an emtpy space?

Just updated to this new version without the done button. For me its counter intuative, especially if it is the last adjustment made, your hand is automatically going downwards the filmstrip at the bottom to select next image to work on . My arm hasnt gone up and down as much since my teenage years! Also when using the healing tool in healing mode you have two little white sticky plaster icons next to each other , one finishes the operation one doesnt. If your ploughing through hundreds of photos this becomes quite an anoyance.

I assumed I would get used to the changes and stop missing the 'done' button in short order - but that's not been the case. I still find myself frustrated it's not there. Especially when wanting to use the same toolset but a new mask. I've having to click back and forth on the tool strip, or move from the mouse to the keyboard to hit 'enter'. As someone else mentioned, the button being removed is disruptive to my work flow and I hope they re-implement it.

Put the damn button back seemingly it's arbitrarily removed and it totally screws up my work process after more than a decade of using this software! After doing something a certain way for so long it's incredibly difficult to change it.

I am losing my mind!!!! My LR just updated IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BUSY SEASON and I can't do ANYTHING!!!! Muscle memory is a real thing! BRING BACK THE "DONE" button, at the very least!!! Even the masking edits look crazy different and I feel like it's adding years to my editing time! This is a nightmare! Why change something that people have been doing for years? You know the expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?" This is the very reason why. This was not an improvement! I have never complained before, but I am on a million deadlines and my brain cannot adjust to this change! Not cool, Adobe. Not cool.

Can I just advise anyone who is preoccupied with production deadlines, and/or, who takes the attitude "just leave it alone", to not have their auto-update option set.
Keeping an eye out on new updates, and reading the release announcements and usage instructions, we can take an informed decision on WHEN (whether) / HOW to bring a new version into our own workflow. Try out e.g. the new masking features on a secondary computer - or at least plan the version upgrade when there's a little spare time available for getting up to speed with it.
Auto update just forces our hand and sidesteps all the above precautions.
On buying a replacement woodwork tool (say), we'd definitely try that out on a scrap piece of wood first - understand any differences in how it should be best used - we wouldn't (if we were wise) apply it instantly onto our main workpiece as if it was the previous tool, and then complain when we didn't get the identical usage and results. And we'd be justifiably cross if someone switched our familiar tool for a different one, without asking, right in the middle of our work. Regardless whether the new tool was later found to be a better one.

Same for me : i'm still looking down for the done button, then up hesitating where to go next. I thought I would forget about those old habits faster. It was just stupid to get rid of it and leave that place empty.

I posted earlier that if I were going to learn a new workflow, I might as well see what all the hype about capture one is all about. I am still learning, and it has cost me hours upon hours of extra time, but I'm finally getting some muscle memory in C1. The answer is an absolute, shining, gleaming, angles singing, heavens opening YES!!! Capture one is far superior. Thanks Adobe, for making this stupid change. My images have taken a leap forward without you. well, I still love you for photoshop. 😛

The "Done" button was not doing anything beside "Closing" whatever Local Panel was open.
We have now better and faster ways to open/close panels using icons and KBSC shortcuts.
All local panels icons are at the top and it made no sense to ask users to reach the bottom to close them...this is why it was removed, it was done to have a better an more efficient workflow for the users.

C.Cella - Your reply is further PROVING the argument that the button is NOT even needed. It it taking up valuable space and prevents adding other tools in the future. I have less of an issue witht he "done" button on the bottom (in otherwise UNUSED space btw,) than I do with moving the much more frequently used crop button. Lightrool tools are MUCH more mouse driven than keyboard driven. This is coming from someone who mostly uses numerical input to enter adjustments using tab and shift-tab, but even that navigation is pretty messed up too.
We read from left to right and from top to buttom. It is how everything flow.
Don't get me started on Lightroom's atypical approach to quick-keys that we can't modify or customize. LR's design also prevents us from properly setting up midi controllers and other custom devices.

Thank you for the recommendation, but I have LR working well enough for now. As long as they don't keep messing with the key structure and layout.
As a long-time Photoshop/LR user I'm not relying on third party plug-ins. I'm quite familiar with them as a company I worked for designed one. I've spent hundreds of dollars and hours on plug-ins over the years, only to have them break with updates. TreeExporter is one my favorites, but really shouldn't be needed.
Keyboard remapping is such a basic function that the main program should have it. Just like Photoshop does.
Since I'm paying a monthly subscription, I'm paying for the right to complain a little. You're defending a button that literally doesn't do anything, and you have that right too. 😉
Well I am actually not defending the "Done" button not advocating to have it back.
Not having the "Intersect" button in Masking always displayed alongside Add and Subtract is a much bigger issue to my eyes as I suspect many users don't know the button exists as it's "hidden".
